If you’ve been looking for a reason to celebrate (and maybe slam some brisket fries while you’re at it), Title 9 Sports Grill has you covered. Phoenix’s first women-focused sports bar is celebrating the anniversary of the landmark Title IX legislation with a bash that’s equal parts party and powerhouse tribute to the women reshaping the sports world.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 21, because that’s when the real fun begins. The celebration will feature stories that highlight just how far women’s sports have come since Title IX hit the books back in 1972. It’ll also be the official launch of a brand-new menu and a summer-long watch party series.
Title IX itself might be just one line of federal legislation, but it packs a punch: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
“While it applies broadly to all aspects of education, Title IX is most well-known for its impact on increasing access to sports and athletic opportunities for women and girls,” Co-founder Kat Moore said. “This bar exists because of that law.”
“This isn’t just a celebration. It’s a rallying point,” Co-founer Audrey Corley said. “We’re building a space where women’s sports take center screen, and this is just the beginning.”
The party’s got all the ingredients: trivia, giveaways, and Happy Hour specials that include $5 pints and $7 shareables. But let’s talk about the menu glow-up, because it’s a big one.
Get your hands on playful starters like a Mac & Cheese Flight, the over-the-top Slam Dunk Basket (think brisket fries loaded to the heavens), and fresh picks like Veggie Loaded Hummus and Veggie Loaded Grains. Craving greens? There are four new salads – each with a tortilla wrap twist if that’s your jam.
The kitchen’s also bringing the heat with wings (yes, even cauliflower ones), smash-burgers and pulled pork on Noble Bread buns, plus waffle fries and sides made to share. Kids under 10 can grab their own favorites from the pint-sized menu, and weekend brunch is here to seal the deal with biscuits, burritos, and breakfast sandwiches. Dessert will be served by Phoenix’s own Brotduft Baking Co.
Title 9 Sports Grill is rolling out its Women’s Sports Watch Party Series all summer long, showcasing everything from the WNBA All-Star Game on July 19, to Phoenix Mercury home games, Wimbledon finals, UEFA Women’s Euro matches, even international women’s rugby. Expect youth clinics, athlete meet-and-greets, themed cocktails, trivia nights, and all the high-energy fandom women’s sports deserve.
