Weekend brunch is already one of Scottsdale’s favorite traditions, but Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill is giving diners another reason to gather around the table. Through its new Big Hearted Brunch campaign, the restaurant is donating a portion of all weekend brunch sales to Teen Lifeline, an Arizona nonprofit dedicated to preventing teen suicide and providing crisis support to young people across the state.
Running every Saturday and Sunday through September, the initiative allows guests to support an important cause simply by ordering brunch. Founded in 1986, Teen Lifeline provides free, confidential and anonymous crisis support for Arizona teens through a 24-hour hotline and text line.
One of the organization’s most distinctive features is its peer-to-peer model, which recognizes that many teens are more comfortable opening up to someone their own age. Trained teen volunteers answer calls and texts each afternoon and evening under the supervision of master’s-level clinicians, with additional support available around the clock through a partnership with Solari.
In addition to crisis intervention, Teen Lifeline offers suicide prevention education, community outreach and life skills training that equips teen volunteers with communication, empathy and leadership skills they carry well beyond the hotline.
“Support like this really matters because it helps us be there when teens reach out,” said Marina Shulman von Bismarck, Fund Development & Community Engagement at Teen Lifeline. “When someone comes in for brunch, they’re helping make sure a teen has someone to call, text, and talk to when things feel heavy. That kind of support may seem simple, but for a young person, it can mean everything.”
