
You can keep your pumpkins. The fall season is all about celebrating tacos.
Sept. 16: Sixth Annual Rockin’ Taco Street Fest More than two dozen Valley restaurants will gather at Dr. AJ Chandler Park from noon to 9 p.m. to dole out delicious tacos for the masses during the Rockin’ Taco Street Fest. Event-goers can expect live entertainment, taco-eating and salsa competitions, ballet folklorico dancing, a piñata party, a low-rider car show and more. And be sure to save room for tequila tastings, churros and palettas. Tickets are $10 online and $12 at the door for general admission; VIP is $75 during pre-sale only. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership.
Sept. 16: Rock The Guac To mark the final countdown to the Arizona Taco Fesetival, Rock the Guac takes places at The Camby in Phoenix on Sept. 16, a k a National Guacamole Day, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $40 and come with unlimited guacamole samples from the likes of La Hacienda, CRUjiente Tacos, MATCH and many more local eateries, a gourmet taco station provided by The Camby, and two drink tickets good for Casa Noble margaritas and Corona cervezas. The event will also include live lucha libre wrestling, flamenco dancing performances and DJ. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona. a nonprofit organization which heals homeless and abused children through artistic expression.
Oct. 14 and 15: Eighth Annual Arizona Taco Festival More than 60 restaurants, food trucks and chefs will be doling out 100-plus types of tacos to a crowd of an expected 40,000 while competing for $10,000 in cash. (The winner is determined by National Taco Association judges.) The festival also features a Tequila Expo, a Sunday-only Margarita tent, a pageant for the prettiest Chihuahua, eating contests, a kids’ zone and more. The event is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at Salt River Fields. General admission tickets are $12 online or $15 at the gate; kids 12 and under free. General admission two-day passes are $20 online. VIP tickets are $100 and include limited drinks from the VIP bar, taco tokens and private restroom facilities.
