Foundress Fridays: Meet Tirza Jova, CEO & Founder of Milk by Mom

Milk by Mom offers breast milk freeze-drying services nationwide, preserving the nutritional, immunological, and probiotic components of breast milk with the convenience of formula. This process provides mothers with flexibility and peace of mind and extends the shelf life of breast milk up to three years.

“We are on a mission to modernize breastmilk,” Jova said.

AZF: What is your “life motto”?

Progress over perfection – guided by intuition, resilience, and heart.

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path for you?

No, I didn’t always see myself as the entrepreneur. I actually imagined supporting my husband in his entrepreneurial journey rather than leading one of my own. This path unfolded more as a calling than a plan.

I realized it was right for me when my passion for the solution outweighed my fear of stepping into something new. I felt a deep responsibility to bring this offer to more families and make it widely accessible. As the journey has unfolded, I’ve received constant affirmation – through the growth of our team, the demand from families, and the stories of impact – that this mission is bigger than me. I feel honored to be a steward of something that truly serves others.

AZF: How do you feel best supported?

Support is essential. I lean heavily on a strong team, mentors, and a community that believes in the mission. I’ve learned to ask for help, to listen, and to surround myself with people who bring both expertise and honesty to the table. Outside of work, my family grounds me, they remind me why this work matters and help keep everything in perspective.

AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?

Knowing that the work matters. When challenges come, and they always do, I anchor myself in the impact we’re making and the families we serve. I’m also deeply motivated by my two young daughters.

I want to model resilience, purpose, and courage for them, and show them that building something meaningful is worth the effort. Knowing that this journey can positively shape their understanding of what’s possible keeps me moving forward.

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.

A workout to clear my head, slow snuggles with my girls, a little quiet time for myself, and easing into the weekend without rushing. It’s about balance – movement, connection, and space to breathe.

AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?

Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. You don’t need the perfect plan, product, or roadmap to begin – you just need to start. Clarity comes from action, not over-planning.

Whether you’re building a brand, growing your career, or leading a team, keep showing up. Say yes to the hard things. And never underestimate the power of your voice and your vision. Somewhere out there, there’s a woman watching you and believing she can do it too – simply because you did.

AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?

What excites me most is solving a real problem with heart and intention. After spending years in large corporate environments and the largest network marketing company, I experienced firsthand how slow and layered decision-making can be. Entrepreneurship has given me the ability to bring a mission to life with agility, without red tape, so we can listen, adapt, and respond to real needs.

I love turning an idea rooted in lived experience into something tangible that truly changes lives, building solutions that are thoughtful, transparent, and human. Knowing that the work we’re doing today can impact not just individual families, but generations to come, is incredibly motivating.
