Foundress Friday: Meet Heather Smith, Founder of Results Revolution and Root & Rise Publishing

At Results Revolution, Heather Smith and her team help elite dental practices scale into multi-million-dollar category leaders without burning out teams or breaking culture.

For over 20 years, Smith has guided founders and operators to grow smarter, not harder – aligning strategy, psychology, leadership, and culture.

“Because sustainable growth isn’t about doing more; it’s about building better systems and better people,” Smith said.

Beyond dentistry, she also runs Root & Rise Publishing, helping high-impact leaders turn lived experience into clear, credible leadership that moves markets.

AZF: What is your “life motto”?

Build boldly. Lead intentionally. Enjoy the journey and leave people better than you found them.

AZF: Did you always know that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? If not, when did you realize that it was the right path for you?

I didn’t grow up calling it entrepreneurship. I grew up leading. As the oldest of 13 kids, responsibility, decision-making, and keeping things moving were part of daily life. I realized entrepreneurship was the right path when I saw I could create structure, opportunity, and momentum for entire teams and communities, which in hindsight I’d been practicing since childhood.

AZF: How do you feel best supported?

Through clear communication, aligned expectations, and relationships built on trust. I work best with people who move ideas forward, say what they mean, and take the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

AZF: What motivates you to keep going amidst the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur?

Impact, and perspective. Seeing leaders step up, teams stabilize and perform at a higher level, and businesses move out of survival mode into something that actually feels good to run. Challenges don’t scare me; they keep things interesting and remind me that growth is supposed to stretch you.

AZF: Describe your perfect Saturday morning.

An early start with coffee, movement, and quiet thinking, followed by unhurried time with people I love. Enough structure to feel grounded, enough flexibility to enjoy the moment, and zero alarms after sunrise.

AZF: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a young entrepreneur who is just starting out?

Build yourself before you build the business. Skills and strategies can be learned, but leadership, resilience, and self-trust are what actually carry you through the hard days. The goal isn’t just success. It’s building something you don’t secretly want to escape from.

AZF: What excites you most about being an entrepreneur?

I’m excited by building what doesn’t exist yet and using it to elevate people along the way. I love creating systems, leaders, and cultures that outlive me – turning vision into real impact and changing trajectories at scale. And if there isn’t joy (or at least a little laughter) in the process, you’re probably doing it wrong.
