Porsche Releases Limited-Edition Paint Palette in Honor of 75th Anniversary

To celebrate 75 years of its sports cars, Porsche has released a limited-edition paint palette with Backdrop featuring four iconic colors seen on the brand’s cars throughout the years that Porsche fans can now incorporate into their homes.

The palette’s four premium paint colors—Irish Green, Ruby Star, Riviera Blue and Speed Yellow—each represent a specific moment in Porsche’s history, as well as the profound impact that color has had on the brand’s designs overall, allowing those who also have an appreciation for color bring these iconic Porsche moments into any room.

The special Porsche x Backdrop palette begins with a color as timeless as the sports car itself: Irish Green. Described as a deep hunter green, Irish Green is a significant color in the brand’s legacy, first appearing on the 356C in 1964. As a favorite color of Wolfgang Porsche himself, Irish Green has continued to be incorporated into the Porsche sports car palette, such as the Irish Green 1967 Porsche 911 Targa S, which is significant for its distinct design that set it apart from other convertibles of the time.

A rare and iconic color, Ruby Star is known by its deep magenta red hue that has transformed the Porsche design since 1991 with a vibrant and eye-catching appearance. The bold, joyous color is a favorite among Porsche collectors and enthusiasts and is seen on the iconic Ruby Star 1988 Custom Built 911 Safari, which is inspired by the Porsche 953 that participated in the prestigious Paris-Dakar Rally.

The next paint color in the palette is just as eye-catching as the others. Riviera Blue truly embodies Porsche’s commitment to innovation with a deep, electric blue hue. Developed in 1994, this audacious color is seen on the 911, 928, and 968 models and adds a modern touch to the classic Porsche design. The Porsche Riviera Blue 1997 Carrera RS is a significant moment for this color, being one of the small number of limited-produced Carrera RS models finished in Riviera Blue.

A color distinctly tied to the sports car, Speed Yellow fully embodies the spirit of track racing in the 1990’s with a bright yellow hue. The warm, vibrant yellow color first appeared on the Porsche 911 in 1991 and is a part of the legacy of the Porsche GT3, which delivered blistering performance for motorsport enthusiasts with a naturally aspirated engine, optimized aerodynamics and lightweight construction.

Each purchase from the Porsche x Backdrop paint palette comes with a limited-edition 75th anniversary leather keychain in one of the four iconic colors. To learn more, visit backdrophome.com.
