2022 Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Returns to the Valley

The 2022 Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series Arizona returns on Saturday, Jan. 15 and Sunday, Jan. 16 in the Valley of the Sun where the event will span Tempe, Phoenix, and Scottsdale. Race weekend kicks off on Friday, Jan. 14 with the Health & Fitness Expo at the Phoenix Convention Center. On Saturday, Jan. 15 race day returns with the 5K taking place from Mill Ave. Bridge – Northbound (Tempe) followed on Sunday, Jan. 16 the marathon, half marathon, 10K taking off from University Dr. & College Ave (Tempe). 

Elite runners from around the world, including Kellen Taylor (USA), Steph Bruce (USA) and Rosie Edwards (GBR) in the women’s field and Benson Cheruiyot (KEN), Mo’ath Alkhawaldeh (JOR) and ultra-runner Adrian McDonald (USA) in the men’s field will contest the half marathon for a total prize purse of $7,500.  Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Ambassador Roosevelt Cook (USA) highlights a competitive field in the elite marathon that will contest a $1,000 prize to the overall winner.

In addition, Northern Arizona University’s Matthew Baxter from New Zealand will be looking at setting the 5K national record for New Zealand at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona 5K on Saturday, Jan. 15.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series is the world’s largest running series taking part in destination locations around the world every year. Established in 1998, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series simple idea of making running fun has transformed both the U.S. and global running landscape by infusing the course with live bands, cheer teams and entertaining water stations, creating a block-party atmosphere for participants and spectators alike. Focused on running, music and community, race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo showcasing the latest in running gear, sports apparel, health and nutritional information and much more. Events culminate with an entertaining finish-line festival featuring some of the biggest names in music, with past performances including Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, O.A.R. Aloe Blacc, Pitbull, Flo Rida, The Band Perry, Fitz and the Tantrums, the Goo Goo Dolls and Bret Michaels.
