There are so many people nowadays using Fitbits, cellphones, and other devices to help track how many steps they take a day and to help keep active. If you are not already part of that group of people, you should jump on the bandwagon while supporting a local non-profit.
From October 12 to 18, Healthy LifeStars is hosting its first ever STEP UP 4 KIDS challenge week, where people in the community track their steps each day, while having the support of sponsors and help raise awareness and funds for Healthy LifeStars, a local non-profit.
5 easy steps to get involved:
- Register for STEP UP 4 KiDS at http://healthylifestars.org/step-up-4-kids/
- Challenge others to STEP UP to the Challenge by joining a team or registering as an individual
- Wear a pedometer throughout the week of October 12-18 and log your progress online
- Encourage friends and family to sponsor your efforts
Create a friendly competition among friends, family, and coworkers while giving back and helping benefit your own health.
STEP UP 4 KIDS will help provide programs for children in underserved neighborhoods with proper health education through their partnership with public and private schools and other non-profits like the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club.
The Healthy LifeStars program helps teach children how to adopt nutritious eating habits, stay active, and set healthy goals. The organization has already served over 18,000 children and their families in Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada. Their goal is to serve 20,000 children each year.
The weeklong challenge will finish on October 21 with a celebration at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club. The event will have private meet and greet, dinner, silent and live auctions, and activities for all attending. Professional golfer Tom Lehman and media personality Lin Sue Cooney are participants of this event and will attend the celebration.
