Each week, we’ll be highlighting individual winners from Best of Our Valley 2018, who share their advice, insights and thoughts on what it means to be a part of this exclusive list.
The Best of spotlight is on Aimee Blake and William Johner of Sugar Sugar who claimed the Valley’s Best Spray Tan. Congrats, Sugar Sugar!
AFM: In a brief 2-3 sentences, please tell us a little bit about SugarSugar!
Aimee Blake (AB) of Sugar Sugar: We are an organic boutique style spa specializing in sugaring hair removal, airbrush tanning, facials, skincare and faux mink lash extensions. Sugar Sugar was built from the client’s perspective. After five years in business, we have established a “Sugar Sugar” culture. A culture practiced by our team, expected by our customers and felt the moment you walk through the door.
AFM: What does it mean to you to be a Best of Our Valley winner?
AB: Proud, humbled and insanely flattered! Our client’s feedback means everything to us. Knowing they loved their Sugar Sugar tans so much they made an active effort to show their support is incredible. We are so thankful our passion for beautiful, natural esthetics and skin is showing through!
AFM: What’s your favorite part about being the Best of Our Valley’s Best Spray Tan?
AB: Excitement, excitement, excitement! Our tan is proprietary, contains clean ingredients because healthy skin is something we are so devoted to. Our clients see us as industry leaders dedicated to changing the culture. It’s feedback like this that motivates us (through the scary times) as we launch Sugar Sugar nationally by mid-2019.
AFM: What advice would you give to others to be the “best” in your field?
AB: Find what you love, be different and stick with it. People will see the heart you bring each day, and they will love you for it. Listen to your clients. Don’t just “hear” them, “listen” to them. This will motivate you to do better. As you get better, you’ll find that successful balance of heart and what the client is telling you.
AFM: Have you seen any benefits as a result of being a BOOV winner?
AB: Having this recognition from our clients gives first time clients even more confidence in booking one with us. Many of these people may have been apprehensive because of what they’ve known about spray tans. This recognition has helped those new clients find their way to us. For that we are so blessed.
AFM: How do you put your “best” foot forward every day?
AB: We love skin! Our love for healthy skin, sugaring hair removal, smart ingredients and service with a smile makes it easy for us to do what we do each day. We choose to set our standards high and intend on continuing to changing the game every chance we get!
