Spring Obsession – Pink!

This week I had the distinct pleasure of working with a fabulous client doing head to toe makeovers on some of their employees. From new hair styles to updated makeup looks and some spanking new outfits it was a three day adventure indeed.  And as I helped rummage through racks and racks of spring clothing for these amazing ladies I was again struck by the fact that my closet is severely lacking in color.  Try as I may black, white and other neutrals seem to dominate those hangers.

Even though I had no issue picking out blues, tangerines, purples and greens for the trio of makeover candidates it was far more difficult finding something “cool” for myself in those same shades.  Then, I came across Who What Wear’s “Looks We Love” ode to pink and lo and behold rarely have I swooned so much over the girlish shade.  Maybe it’s the rocker meets socialite pink leather pants on Jessica Hart or maybe the Valentino Spring Collection perfect -for -summer -cocktails strapless sheath or maybe the TopShop  wear -it – to -a -summer -wedding drop waist halter dress.

Check out these great looks straight from whowhatwear.com
Australian model Jessica Hart aimed for tailored nonchalance and a striking color combo in Salvatore Ferragamo Pink Leather Pants, Equipment’s Signature Shirt ($208) in Black. Instead of turning to typical night-on-the-town attire, Hart paired her cool outfit with sleek accents, like Ferragamo’s Black Lizard Minaudiere and velvet pumps from F/W 11, which are sadly no longer available, for a bold alternative.

How about Topshop’s Fluro Dip Hem Dress ($96) in Fluro Pink, a silky, statement-making number ideal for a summer soiree. For a slightly more casual getup, try Mango’s Three Quarter Sleeved Sweatshirt ($60) in Baby Pink paired with Jenni Kayne’s Flat Front Lace Skirt ($450)  in Pink. Worn together, these pieces offer a sporty-meets-girly look just right for spring, but they’re also versatile apart! To channel an edgier vibe, pick structured pink pieces like Elie Tahari’s Wendy Jacket ($328) in Island Coral. The blazer’s suitable for your 9-to-5, but it’s also weekend-appropriate paired with jeans. Speaking of jeans, if you’re into colored renditions, check out Joe’s Jeans’ The Skinny Jeans ($158) in Cerise.

Care to go the subtle route when it comes to this vivid trend? Slip on Marais USA’s Espadrille Wedges ($110) in Blush, a pair of ankle-strap sandals in pastel pink that appear both stylish and comfortable. And while we (WWW) love the Cambridge Satchel’s neon purse, ModCloth’s Wildly Whimsical Bag ($65), crafted in pink faux ostrich skin, is an equally chic alternative this season. For an even smaller dose of pink, we recommend C Wonder’s Saffiano Leather Super Skinny Belt ($38) in Flamingo or Kate Spade New York’s Franca Sunglasses ($128). Both add just the right touch of the rosy-colored hue to your ensemble, until you’re ready to embrace head-to-toe pink!
