A local shopping destination is getting a fresh start with a familiar touch. The owners of Pagoda Lane, the popular boutique known for its inspired personalized gifts, have acquired the iconic Scottsdale Marketplace, a multi-vendor retail hub that has been a staple of the community for over two decades.
Heather and Chip Hassan, alongside their daughter Payton, are transforming the store into Chapin House, a newly envisioned space for upscale and curated shopping. Located on Scottsdale Road next to the well-known Fat Ox restaurant, the new concept will maintain the spirit of its predecessor while ushering in a new era of elevated retail experiences.
Though a grand reopening is slated for fall 2025, Chapin House is already open to the public. Current hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Chapin House honors a family name and echoes the Hassans’ earlier international retail ventures. For the Hassans, the acquisition was a natural progression from their successful run with Pagoda Lane, which continues to operate within the newly reimagined space.
“We’re delighted to introduce Chapin House,” Heather Hassan said. “We know our longtime clients and new customers will love the new and improved space. Not only are we giving the building a major makeover, but we’ve added some amazing vendors to the store as well.”
Chapin House hosts some of the Valley’s finest dealers and collectors, specializing in high-quality home décor, tabletop items, antiques, art, gifts, and collectibles. A standout addition is a boutique featuring authenticated pre-owned luxury handbags and accessories from top designers, further enhancing the store’s appeal.
The Hassans bring a wealth of experience to this venture, having previously operated large-format furniture stores in cities like Denver, Las Vegas, Scottsdale, and Shanghai. Their résumé also includes an eight-year collaboration with Disney, furnishing and accessorizing executive residences overseas. Learn more at chapinhouse.com.
