Recently I was asked to provide a photograph to go along with an interview I did for a fun little beauty magazine. Having spent the majority of my career behind the camera or next to a photographer who always carries a camera (make that- who’s assistant always carries a camera) I find that unlike the rest of the social networking world I do not posses a fat scrapbook of my daily life on film. Instead, I generally shutter at the idea of being in front of the camera. So, I took a little journey down memory lane in search of the perfect pix which ultimately spawned an afternoon of kicks and giggles over the preposterous array of hair styles that I have indulged in over the years. And even more recently when my hair started shedding at a ridiculous rate I found myself combing the glossy pages of every celeb mag to find just the right “do”.
If you too are itching for a new look, here are some of the top most requested snips and tips from celeb hairstylists in Tinseltown.
Close crops like Rhianna and Halle Berry top the list for super short looks.
Big Tip: With hair this short styling is key and the perfect tools are essential.
Puffy Hair can look dated, a small flatiron will help do the trick like the TS-2 detailer
Stick to grooming pastes that are more weightless and dry not sticky and waxy.
The modern bob as sported on Katie Holmes and Gwyneth Paltrow looks effortless and amazing whether it’s dressed up or down.
Big Tip: Bobbed hair requires a great brush to keep the style looking chic. A Mason Pearson will never fail you.
Use shine spray’s that are lightweight to keep hair from looking limp. Bumble and Bumble BbShine does the trick.
Mid-length shaggy cuts with long layers are all the rage like the one on Supermodel Kate Moss, Selma Blair or Jennifer Aniston.
Big Tip: To keep hair looking sexy and carefree uses a shine serum to tame fly aways but if hair is superfine try Phyto Volumizing spray an Allure “best of” to give hair a little boost.
Mid- length hair looks great with a few little waves, try a half inch curling iron for soft waves minus the pageant girl poof.
Notorious for super long hair (even if it’s sewn or glued in) celebs like J Lo, Reese Witherspoon and Taylor Swift could be a stand in for Rapunzel.
To keep their locks in great shape deep conditioning is a must. Try Ojon Ultra Hydrating conditioner.
When hair is this length pick a round brush with a mix of nylon and boar bristle to smooth out ends without unnecessary damage.
