A new Scotch tasting series featuring KTAR Radio’s award-winning Voice to America talk show host Tony Femino at the Scotch Library at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa kicks off today, Sept. 20.
Voice to America Live! will bring Femino’s weekly radio show format live to The Scotch Library for three events this fall (from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, Nov. 15 and Dec. 13). (The program airs locally from 10 a.m. to noon Sundays on 92.3 FM KTAR and replays from 10 p.m. to midnight on Sundays.) Each will include discussion topics centered on the world news of the day and each will feature a great tasting of three scotches. The first of these unique events on Sept. 20 will feature two whiskies from the Scottish Highlands: a 15-year Glencadam and an 18-year Glenmorangie as well as a 17-year Glenfarclas from the Scottish whiskey region of Speyside.
“In the run-up to the presidential election and an intriguing time in global news, we feel this is the perfect time to offer the Resort’s guests and my listeners a fun evening of discussion paired with a trio of scotches. They will come away with new knowledge about scotch and perhaps a new understanding about the global perspective,” Femino says.
The Scotch Library at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa provides both aficionados and those new to Scotch with the opportunity to select from more than 250 different labels including a collection of rare scotches. Assisting guests with selections are specially trained Scotch Library Ambassadors. Donned in traditional Scottish kilts, these experts guide guests through the Scotch Library’s offerings and provide tips about how best to enjoy whisky. The Scotch Library is open from 5 to 9 p.m. nightly.
Tickets are priced at $50 per person, which includes a tasting of three Scotch whiskies and appetizers. Reservations are required and space is limited. 480.624.1202 or visit kierlandresort.com.
