After chef Peter DeRuvo’s departure in September, Sassi, in Scottsdale, has named its new executive chef: Christopher Nicosia. Chef Nicosia’s former post was as chef de cuisine of Constantino’s at the world-class Chiricahua Clubhouse at Desert Mountain. Prior to his time at Desert Mountain, the chef–a 13-year culinary pro–spent time at Lon’s at the Hermosa. A perfect fit for Sassi, one of the Valley’s leading Italian restaurants, Chef Nicosia’s expertise lies in regional Italian cuisine, using authentic, local and seasonal ingredients.
The Scottsdale Culinary Institute grad is also an avid traveler, which will undoubtedly enhance his culinary skills. The chef has seen the likes of South Africa, Venezuela, Columbia, Panama, Hawaii and the Virgin Islands. Chef Nicosia plans to update Sassi’s menu with several new dishes. www.sassi.biz.
