Experience New Events & Programs at Taliesin This Fall-Winter

Taliesen West

In the spirit of continuing the legacy of famous architect Frank Llyod Wright, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation has announced its full calendar for the fall and winter seasons at Taliesin West, the late architect’s winter home in Scottsdale.

There is a wide variety of new daily tours, diverse cultural events and enriching youth and family programs. This new set of activities offers new and returning visitors an opportunity to see the works of Wright from a different perspective.

Tours

Open to the public, there are several tour options available. In addition to the popular Highlights Audio and In-Depth Guided tours, the foundation is now offering the following three new guided tours:

  • The Nightfall Guided tour is a 60-minute exploration that focuses on the outdoor spaces at Taliesin after dark. It showcases what it is like to live in harmony with the natural environment. The nightfall tour is available on Sundays and Mondays from Oct. 1 – Dec. 31. Tickets range from $24 – $49.
  • The American Icons photography exhibition provides a fresh look not only at Wright, but another famous 20th century artist Georgia O’Keefe. The exhibit focuses more on the human side of the two creators while also drawing similarities between the two. This exhibition will run from Oct. 20, 2023 – June 3, 2024. Cost is included in paid tour admission.
  • Looking toward the new year, guests can partake in the Shelters in the Desert guided tour. This 90-minute tour on Sunday and Monday mornings takes guests on a hike through the desert trails behind Taliesin West. Expect to see and learn about apprentice shelters, Wright’s “learning by doing” philosophy and the connection between architecture and nature. This tour will be available from Jan. 1 – March 31, 2024. Tickets range from $24 – $54.

Cultural Programs

Through a robust selection of cultural programming, ranging from wellness events to theater performances, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation  pathways to discover the history of Taliesin West with new, innovative activities.

Two popular programs coming back are Sunsets and Sips and TW LIVE. Guests are invited to visit Taliesin West for the Sunsets and Sips event twice a month. Each happy hour will explore one to two spaces of Wright’s winter home as guests can mingle and explore the serene area.

If music is your jam, keep an eye out for TW Live to experience performances by some of the best musicians the Valley has to offer. These 90-minute performances will spotlight the sounds of classical jazz.

From October 2023 through May 2024, the venue will host various wellness events, like Yoga, Tai Chi, Sound Bathing and Meditative Walking, available on select Saturdays each month. The schedule of events will be posted here. Tickets range from $17–$25 and are available for purchase on the Foundation’s website.

New to this calendar year are adult workshops. These programs offer hands-on opportunities to explore photography, creative writing, landscaping and gardening. Class sizes are small, so be sure to get tickets early on the Foundation’s website

Youth & Family Programs

For youth and families, Taliesin West has lots to explore, including monthly programs for homeschoolers, early learners, scouts and students.

This season, Taliesin West is offering ABC Hour: Architecture, Books and Crafts, a free, STEM-based story and craft hour geared toward four to eight-year-olds on the second Saturday of each month from October 2023–April 2024. This program is taught in the outdoor classroom so that children can be inspired by the same Sonoran Desert landscape that sparked Frank Lloyd Wright’s imagination 80 years ago.

Program prices, dates and times are subject to change or cancellation. For up-to-date information on programs or booking tours visit FrankLloydWright.org.
