Recipes: Cooling Summer Sips

Just in time for those 116-degree days, JW Marriott Desert Ridge has introduced three tasty cool-you-down drinks (two cocktails that can be found at the resort’s twenty6 Lounge, serving happy hour daily 3 to 6 p.m. and a kid-friendly drink that begs to be sipped poolside). Order these during your next staycation at the resort–or whip them up for your July 4 fest.
Strawberry Whiskey Sour
Strawberry Whiskey Sour
1.5 oz. Jameson
.5 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. house strawberry puree
1 oz. egg whites
1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
3 – 4 dashes Chocolate Bitters
Method
Combine simple syrup, egg whites, fresh lemon juice and strawberry puree into a mixing glass and dry shake vigorously. Add the Jameson and ice and shake again. Pour into lowball and top with chocolate bitters.
Kokopelli Colada
Just a Splash Kokopelli Colada
¾ ounce Captain Morgan’s Parrot Bay coconut rum
¾ ounce Cabana Bay vanilla spice rum
½ ounce Myer’s dark rum
8 ounces Island Oasis pina colada frozen drink mix
6 ounces crushed ice
1 tablespoon honey
¼ cup toasted coconut
Method
Dip the rim of the glass in honey and then coat in toasted coconut. Blend ingredients, pour into glass and enjoy.
Dirty Worm
Just a Splash Dirty Worm Drink
8 ounces Island Oasis ice cream frozen beverage mix
2 ounces Oreo cookies, crushed
6 ounces crushed ice
Method
Blend ingredients and pour into a tall glass, top with colorful gummy worms and serve.
