Foodie news roundup for the week of May 28.
Starting Tuesday, May 29 and continuing through Friday, August 31, stop by Thirsty Camel inside The Phoenician from 2 to 11 p.m. to enjoy specials on drinks (pictured) and light bites on the scenic terrace, or in the comfort of the cool lounge. Sip on $3 Coronas and Dos Equis and an assortment of other brews for $5, or enjoy a round of rosé, with Rosé All Day, Piper Sonoma Sparkling Rosé and Bodegas Muga Rosé going for $10 a glass, or 20 percent off per bottle. Specialty cocktails also make the cut, with a $12 Sangria Summer (choice of red, white or rosé sangria) and a revolving featured summer offering up for grabs at all times. The Thirsty Camel’s all-day summer happy hour also serves up an impressive assortment of Sonoran-style bites, like carne asada quesadillas and grilled artichoke flatbread topped with morel mushroom, spring onion, pea and Stinging Nettle hot sauce, among others.
Beginning Friday, June 1, to Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3, the much-anticipated, All Night, All Summer Happy Hour returns to Scottsdale’s Roaring Fork restaurant.  Beginning at 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday, guests can receive happy hour pricing in the bar and Saloon on dishes like tortilla soup, green chili pork, grill fish tacos and more. In addition, wines by the glass will be offered for the price of $5 as well as “Roaring Cocktails.”
From Memorial Day through Labor Day (Sept. 3), The Duce in Phoenix will sell non-alcoholic homemade lemonade ($3) and specialty vodka-lemonade cocktails ($10), with $1 from every lemonade and $2 from every lemonade cocktail benefiting the health, hope and healing at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. National Lemonade Day is August 20. In celebration of the holiday, The Duce will donate 100 percent of Lemonade for Life proceeds to the Hospital the Sunday before, August 19.
Over Easy has two reasons to celebrate on Sunday, June 3. It’s National Egg Day and the restaurant’s 10-year anniversary. In honor of the special day, Over Easy has two deals to celebrate: the traditional one-egg breakfast is only $5 (bacon, hash browns, a choice of toast and one egg served in any style) and $1 eggs (guests can also add an egg, any style, to any order for only $1.) The Egg Day Deals are available at Over Easy’s locations in Arcadia, Biltmore, Paradise Valley, Gilbert and Mesa.
Join Miracle Mile Deli starting June 1 through August 31 for a summer of shakes, Enjoy milkshake flavors like chocolate, strawberry, vanilla caramel and its monthly special shake for just $4 all summer long. All shakes are frosty, rich and creamy made with Shamrock Farms ice cream.
Fired Pie has announced plans to open its 20th location in Arizona and the second in the city of Mesa. To celebrate, they will be offering a free pizza day fundraiser with Phoenix Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, June 5, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the new East Mesa location (2015 S. Alma School Rd.). On that day, customers can receive a free pizza or salad, with a limit of one per person. Orders must be made in-person at the East Mesa location and customers who come in on Tuesday will also receive a card for 20 percent off their next purchase. Customers can also enjoy their free pizza or salad while supporting a good cause. Fired Pie will be accepting credit card or cash donations all day long on behalf of Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Dance the night away at Tanzy to DJ Dean Michaels, the popular Phoenix Sun’s DJ, on Friday, June 8, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. as the restaurant kicks off a month long series of Friday Night Dinner Parties. Scottsdale Quarter’s Tanzy Restaurant is hosting a series of Friday Night Dinner Parties featuring its late-night menu and handcrafted summer cocktails starting on June 1 through June 29.  Mix and mingle friends over handcrafted summer cocktails, with the first drink on the house for everyone that drops in from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
