Jewel’s Bakery & Cafe is honoring the National Pi Day by rolling out some of their most popular pies, both savory and sweet. All day on March 14, folks can dine in or take out their favorite slices for $3.14. Pies being offered include: green chili mac and cheese with bacon, mile high blood orange meringue, banana split pie (banana cream pie topped with pineapple jam, vanilla bean mousse, cherries, chocolate and caramel drizzle and peanuts) and dark chocolate peanut butter mousse pie with homemade graham cracker crust.
Savor delicious food and wine at the monthly Monday Night Chef’s Table series at ZuZu inside the hip Hotel Valley Ho. At the March 14 dinner, enjoy a seasonal, four-course menu. Each course is paired with pours from Qupé, which makes Rhone-inspired wines. Chef Charles Wiley and special guest Bob Lindquist, founder of Qupé, will be on hand to discuss the evening’s fare. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and costs $68 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and can be made at 480.421.7997.
The City of Maricopa expects to help more than 15,000 people find their salsa-selves at its 12th Annual Salsa Festival on Saturday, March 19, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Copper Sky Regional Park. The centerpiece of the event is a salsa competition that will bring together more than 13 salsa masters, who will spice and dice their way into battle to earn the crown of ultimate salsa champion. Other activities include a kids zone, live music, a vendor village and more. While admission is free, there is a charge for the Little Pepper Zone play area ($5 per child for unlimited play) and the salsa-tasting voting kits ($1 per kit). On-site parking for the event is $5; however, free shuttles will be stationed at local elementary schools from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to transport guests to and from the event. This March is Cupcake Madness at Sprinkles Scottsdale, and two flavors will be competing for a permanent spot on the menu. Swirl will be competing to take Vanilla Milk Chocolate off of the menu with it’s delicious Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla and Belgium dark chocolate hand-swirled together and topped with milk chocolate cream cheese frosting. Vanilla Milk Chocolate will be fighting to keep its place with Madagascar Bourbon vanilla cake topped with fudgy milk chocolate cream cheese frosting. Whichever cupcake sells the most between March 15 and March 31 will earn their permanent spot on the weekly menu.
