Downtown Phoenix is about to get two noodle restaurant concepts, Otakumen and Pat & Waldo’s, in a newly renovated space at the historic Orpheum Lofts. Chef Marco DiSanto has released the menus and is ready to officially serve his first bowls of noodles Friday, Jan. 8. This Friday, guests can trade in a package of top ramen for a half-priced bowl of fresh, hot Otakumen-style ramen. The collected packages will then be donated to St. Mary’s Food Bank after the grand opening. Also, the first 50 guests in line at 11 a.m. this Friday with a package of top ramen can trade it in for a free bowl of Otakumen-style ramen.
Through Jan. 10, Hopdoddy Burger Bar is Scottsdale will offer a Good Korma Burger featuring a curried red lentil patty, smothered in a spiced veggie Korma featuring curry, cashews and coconut cream, and topped off with homemade curried mustard. On the side, order the Mango Lassi shake, which is available through Jan. 17.
Save your spot for two events at The Casablanca Lounge this month. Jan. 13: Fort Collins Brewery Dinner features four courses paired with beer. Reception starts at 6:30 p.m.; live music by Vaughn Willis (starts at 8 p.m.) Jan. 30: Squatters/Wasatch Brewing Company VS SLO Down Wines Dinner features four courses paired with beer and wine. Guests then get to vote for their favorite drinks. Reception starts at 5 p.m. Click event names to register and for pricing info.
Today, in honor or National Tempura Day (Jan. 7), Stingray Sushi will have a special tempura platter ($19) showcasing the best of this wonderful tradition. The platter with two pieces of king crab (pictured), two pieces of shrimp and 10 pieces of assorted seasonal vegetables is perfect for sharing with friends over drinks or as a starter.
The Boulders announces the reopening of the Bakery Café, located at the resort’s el Pedregal marketplace.  After an extensive summer makeover, the Bakery Café is now a comfortably sophisticated spot for a morning espresso drink, breakfast, a fresh, healthy lunch or grab-n-go meals. The Bakery Café’s new interior is spacious, inviting and described as a melding of a European Espresso Bar with contemporary stylized features.
Infusion Coffee & Tea hosts a home-brewing class on Jan. 9 from noon to 2 p.m. Learn how to brew the perfect cup of coffee, including how to do the pour-over method and how to “press” the French press. Cost is $75 and reservations are made by calling 480.731.3236 or via e-mail at info@ibca-usa.com or in person at the café.
