The Yard in Phoenix is teaming up with Local First AZ on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for a fun yard sale. Guests can browse unique offerings from local favorites, all while soaking in the warm weather, drinking a local brew and tossing some bags on the corn-hole field. The Yard Sale features eight local businesses, live music from local bands, fun games and food and drinks offered at both Culinary Dropout and Barrio Urbano at The Yard in Phoenix.
World Whiskey Day is Saturday, May 16. To celebrate, The Gladly is having Dr. Tom Turner’s World Whiskey Day Class. Dr. Turner is Master of Whiskey for Diageo (Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, Ketel One, Guinness) will be on hand to educate attendees about the wonderful world of whiskey. Those who purchase tickets will get to sample different whiskeys and learn about them, as well as bar snacks, like nuts, olives and sausage-pretzel-cheese. Tickets are $45 per person and are available at thegladly.com/events.
32 Shea, a bistro is north-central Phoenix, is now offering a weekly Burger & Shake Wednesday. Though offerings will change weekly, here is a tasty example: bacon mac and cheese burger with strawberry shake and salad for $17.
Hopdoddy Burger Bar is dishing up the 7 Layer Burger through May 17. It features seven layers of goodness: refried black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, Tillamook cheddar, tortilla strips, sour cream and shredded iceberg lettuce are placed on top of a fresh-ground beef patty between two classic egg buns.
On National Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 16, Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill is hosting Gyros For Heroes (pictured). All retired and active duty military members can get a free gyro – all they have to do is show their military ID. No strings attached, no purchase necessary, one per customer per day.
Through Oct. 31, Los Sombreros is offering a 10-course tasting menu at $50 per couple. Dishes include smoked salmon tostaditas, chile relleno de pollo, crepes with cajeta and almond tequila and much more.
