Early this summer, Aunt Chilada’s Tempe welcomed a new menu of authentic Mexican cuisine from the barrio, garnered directly from the family recipes of Aunt Chilada’s kitchen team, including Chef Eric Finney (pictured).
A longtime favorite dining spot in Tempe, Aunt Chilada’s has freshened things up with the introduction of tableside guacamole. Thought the concept is nothing new, there is no better way to kick off the feast with such fresh ingredients and Aunt Chilada’s delectable tortilla chips. Another new addition to the menu is a selection of flavor-packed street tacos. Carne asada, polo asada, el pastor, carnitas and marinated swordfish are all available; three tacos are just under $13. Topped with cabbage, cilantro, tomato, pickled sweet onion and cotija cheese, the el pastor is a favorite–a delectable combo of spicy and sweet. On the side, options include charro beans, black beans, rice or fideo, with charro beans (cowboy-style pinto beans) and fideo (a savory noodle dish) being favorites.
One of the most notable menu additions is the Sizzling Molcajete Bowl for Two. The dish comprises a large–and super-hot–molcajete that is brimming with carne asada, pollo asada, ajo shrimp and a roasted Gaujillo chile sauce with chorizo, roasted chiles and cactus. Avocado and Oaxaca cheese round out the dish. The ingredients come together in perfect harmony, with the meat, shrimp and chicken adding plenty of hearty, filling bites while the cactus provides freshness and brightness to each bite. http://www.auntchiladastempe.com/.
