The mid-century modern landmark Hotel Valley Ho in Old Town Scottsdale has introduced two brand-new Hideaway Suites, marking the completion of an $18 million guest room renovation – the largest since the hotel first opened its doors in 1956 and the highest per-key renovation investment in Scottsdale history.

The Hideaway Suites represent a reimagining of the property’s former Executive Suites, redesigned by Mendil + Meyer Design Studio to strike a balance between nostalgic charm and contemporary comfort. Rather than recreate a specific decade, the design team drew inspiration from the hotel’s mid-century roots and interpreted those elements through a modern lens.
“The Hideaway Suite is an exciting addition to our colorful collection of room types,” said Vice President and General Manager Ronen Aviram. “We wanted to create a brand-new suite perfect for groups. These suites offer a one-of-a-kind, luxurious space that respects the history of the hotel while infusing a fresh, modern perspective that we hope our guests will love as much as we do.”

Sustainability and mindfulness played a key role in the renovation, with select materials repurposed from previous updates to minimize waste. Inside, form meets function in clever, design-forward ways. A custom sofa anchors the living room and converts into a bed, with an integrated open closet built into the millwork. A newly added shower in the second bathroom allows the space to transform into a second bedroom.

A makeup vanity, complete with lighting inspired by Hollywood dressing rooms, pays homage to the hotel’s glamorous past. The overall palette of soft pinks and blues reflects Arizona’s signature sunsets, contrasted by crisp white walls, neutrals and subtle greenery that bring the desert indoors.

Custom artwork by Scottsdale-based Djamila Fierek adorns the walls, and the new window sheers feature a geometric hummingbird pattern created in collaboration with Lebatex, symbolizing joy and good fortune. Each suite includes a separate king bedroom, a living room with, a wet bar, terrazzo countertops, porcelain and wood flooring, illuminated vanity mirrors, two flat-screen TVs, and a private wraparound balcony. A high-tech Crestron system allows guests to personalize lighting and temperature.

To celebrate the debut, the hotel also launched the Hideaway, Your Way package, which includes a bottle of prosecco, a Polaroid camera with film to keep, a $100 food-and-beverage credit, and a morning recovery kit – an added touch that blends retro fun with modern indulgence.
