Travel + Leisure Names The Hermosa Inn as Arizona’s Top Resort Hotel

The Hermosa Inn has been named Arizona’s No. 1 Resort Hotel in Travel + Leisure’s 2023 “World’s Best Awards,” which ranks the top 10 luxury spas and resorts in the state.

Nearly 165,000 T+L readers completed the annual survey, an increase of nearly 25 percent over pre-pandemic voting levels that racked up a total of more than 685,000 votes cast across over 8,500 unique properties, including hotels, resorts, spas and cruise lines.

Respondents rated each hotel on specific criteria such as rooms and facilities, location, service and food to determine the final scores. In Arizona, wellness was the main focus when choosing top resorts with a handful of properties offering tranquil, wellness-focused experiences across the state.

The Hermosa Inn landed the top spot, moving up from No. 2 in 2022 with a winning score of 95.09. Readers praised the Paradise Valley resort for its unique ambiance; charming and historical aspects; convenient location near restaurants and shopping in neighboring Arcadia and Paradise Valley neighborhoods or hiking in the nearby Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak; and experiences like the self-guided art walk and Blue Door Spa Suite.

The beautiful resort was originally built in the 1930s by artist Lon Megargee as a one-bedroom studio for his private use, which he then opened to the public as a guest ranch. Today, the one-of-a-kind property still features the artist’s original artwork, while both the main restaurant, LON’s, and the bar, LON’s Last Drop, pay tribute to his name. The Hermosa Inn features 43 hacienda-style casitas with a Southwestern flair, some offering indoor fireplaces and private patios.
