Tucked into the heart of North Scottsdale’s ever-energetic Kierland district, The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa announced a multi-phase renovation that promises to reimagine not just the property itself, but the entire hospitality experience surrounding it, blending grand-scale amenities with more intimate moments designed to bring people together.

Long considered a cornerstone of the Kierland Commons area, the resort has always been more than just a place to stay. It’s been a hub for connection, where locals and visitors gather for everything from weekend getaways to evenings out. Now, with what’s being called The New Westin Kierland Experience, that sense of connection is taking center stage.

“This resort has always been about connection,” General Manager Derek Ellis said. “As the flagship property of this district, we’ve continuously helped shape its energy and identity. This next evolution builds on that legacy by creating spaces that feel welcoming and intentionally social. More importantly, it’s about how those spaces make people feel, fostering meaningful moments, genuine interaction, and a true sense of belonging.”
A redesigned lobby introduces a more fluid, welcoming entry, anchored by a striking three-tier architectural lounge bar that seamlessly connects indoor and outdoor spaces. The goal is clear: create an environment where guests naturally gather.

One of the resort’s most iconic features, its Scotch Library, is also getting an elevated refresh. Already known for housing one of the largest collections in the world, the space will expand into a more immersive, design-forward experience. Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry will showcase nearly 450 bottles in individual display lockers.
The resort will debut a hidden speakeasy, an intimate, design-driven enclave tucked behind an unassuming architectural feature. With rich textures, ambient lighting, and a focus on rare pours and craft cocktails, it’s a space designed for discovery and a touch of mystery. The resort’s Kierland After Dark programming is expanding, bringing wine and Scotch tastings, live music and social events.

Enhancements to the adults-only pool are already complete, offering upgraded cabanas and a more refined atmosphere. Families and groups can look forward to a refreshed Adventure Pool experience later this fall, complete with a renovated pool bar and new gathering spaces designed for all ages.
For those mixing business with pleasure, the resort’s meeting and event spaces are also undergoing a full modernization. With more than 200,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, the updates ensure the property remains a top destination for conferences, celebrations, and large-scale gatherings. The reimagined resort is designed to feel expansive and personal.

“This evolution is about balance,” Ellis said. “We’re enhancing the scale of the resort while preserving the warmth and authenticity that have always defined Kierland.” The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa is inviting guests to visit and fully immerse themselves in the rhythm, energy and connection that define this corner of Scottsdale.
