Lunch & Learn Returns to Sanctuary Resort With Top Chefs

We think food always tastes best when you prepare it yourself, but it tastes even better when you watch top chefs prepare it, pair it with wine and host it at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa.

Back by popular demand for its 16th year, the award-winning Lunch & Learn is returning to the resort August 4. Sanctuary’s own Executive Chef Beau MacMillan will be joined by other top chefs for interactive cooking demonstrations including a three-course meal with wine, live musical entertainment, Q&A opportunities and take-home recipes.

The series will include three dinners and one lunch and will be held in The Views Ballroom. Dinner events are priced at $145 per person and the Aug. 11 lunch is priced at $85 per person.

Aug. 4: Chef Carl Ruiz

Get your fix of Italian with Chef Carl Ruiz, owner of Marie’s Italian Specialties in Chatham, New Jersey. You can also find him on Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games as a judge. Enjoy an Italian-inspired dinner paired with Italian wines. 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 11: Chef James Porter

Local chef, and owner of TERRA farm + manor in Prescott, Arizona, Chef James Porter will be sharing a farm-to-table inspired lunch paired with unique American wines. 12 p.m.

Aug. 25: Tony Abou-Ganim, Samantha Sanz and Rene Andrade

Abou Ganim is a world-class mixologist, bar owner and author. He will be creating cocktails for a dinner by local chefs Samantha Sanz of Talavera, and Rene Andrade, formerly of elements, who is opening Tempe’s Ghost Ranch this summer. The Mexican-inspired dinner will be paired with Fortaleza tequila cocktails. 6:30 p.m.

Sep. 1: Chef Danny Grant

Danny Grant is a chef and restauranteur based in Chicago and the youngest U.S. chef to earn two Michelin stars (2011 and 2012).  Grant will prepare a dinner paired with some of California’s best wines. 6:30 p.m.

Sep. 7: Chuck Wiley and Chris Brugman

This exciting event will showcase the newest resort of the WestRoc family slated to open this fall – Castle Hot Springs. Mountain Shadows Executive Chef Chuck Wiley and Castle Hot Springs Executive Chef Chris Brugman deliver a Harvest of the Day dinner experience utilizing vegetables foraged from their organic garden along with other locally sourced ingredients and wine pairings form Eco Terreno Wines by Mark Lyon. 6:30 p.m.
