Arizona’s cocktail scene is heading to Hawaii this summer. As part of an ongoing lineup of chef and mixology collaborations, Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort has announced that Phoenix’s acclaimed Century Grand will bring its immersive Platform 18 cocktail experience to the Big Island for two exclusive evenings this September, highlighting one of Arizona’s most celebrated bar concepts on a national stage.
The appearance is part of Kona Village’s World-Class Culinary Pop-up Series, which welcomes award-winning chefs and bartenders from across the country for limited-time dining and cocktail experiences. Throughout the summer and fall, guests will enjoy collaborations featuring acclaimed culinary talent alongside cocktails served from the resort’s restored Shipwreck Bar.
Century Grand, a two-time honoree on The World’s 50 Best Bars list, will take over Kona Village on September 18 and 19, bringing its Platform 18 concept to the resort. Known for transporting guests aboard a vintage Pullman-style railcar through immersive storytelling and cocktails, the destination will reinterpret its experience with drinks inspired by the nostalgia of travel and Kona Village’s seaside setting.
Beyond its visiting cocktail talent, Kona Village is also introducing a new family-friendly version of its signature Island Roots dinner. Called ʻOhana Island Roots, the experience welcomes guests to gather beneath the kiawe trees for a feast centered around Hawaiian flavors, locally sourced ingredients and live-fire cooking.
The evening begins with cocktails, music and appetizers, while younger guests enjoy a lemonade bar and hands-on musubi making before everyone comes together for a dinner featuring dishes such as Kona kampachi with ogo chimichurri, Huli Huli glazed chicken, vegetable fried rice and tropical desserts.
