Please describe your occupation:

Founder and CEO of Nrïsh Wellness. This is an online holistic nutrition company.

Why did you go into that industry?

Lifelong passion turned profession. I grew up overweight as a kid in a small town in New Mexico. I became extremely passionate about weight loss, nutrition, supplements, and exercise trying to put myself in the best position to become a major league baseball player.

Moved to AZ when I was 15 to pursue the career, played at 3 different colleges in AZ, and decided to go into the health and wellness world after a successful NCAA college baseball run as I learned I was much more passionate about nutrition and exercise. Long story short, I saw a huge gap in the marketplace for online nutrition with a holistic focus and helping people ditch the diet culture.

So I stayed in school to get my MBA and started my own business. Now we are running strong serving over 7,000 people globally with a full-time staff.

What made you want to be a part of Arizona Foothills Magazine’s Most Eligible Phoenicians 2021?

I think the magazine and its mission is a true representation and depiction of what AZ really is and I feel as though I align with The Most Eligible Phoenician 2021 because I am active in the community, I network with lots of people locally, I am active on social media, and AZ will always be my home base. Oh… and did I mention I am single… Lol

Are you an Arizona native? If not, when and why did you move to Arizona?

I am not a native. Born and raised right next door in Gallup NM. Moved to AZ when I was 15 with my parents to pursue a career in baseball. Let me tell you what a culture shock that was moving from a tiny town of 25,000 people with one high school to starting my junior year at paradise valley high school here in AZ. I Then played baseball at gateway community college, Scottsdale community college, and finished at Grand Canyon University.

What is your favorite aspect of Arizona?

The accessibility of all the cities, the seasonal events, the restaurants and the close proximity of places like Sedona, Flagstaff, and surrounding cities. Arizona is such a great location to be in… If you can find a way to escape the summers and be schmoozed by our winters, you will fall into the AZ love trap lol.

Have you ever been married in the past? Would you want to get married/remarried?

I have never been married. Marriage is and always will be on the table when the right one comes into the picture.

Do you have any children? Would you like to have children?

I do not have children but would love to have them one day! Currently working on dad-bod prevention protocols as we speak…

What’s your astrological sign?

Scorpio

Would you describe yourself as more of an extrovert or introvert? Or a little bit of both?

This is such a great question. Everyone who knows me today would say I am an extreme extrovert but in all reality, I think I just have an extrovert “switch.” Deep down I am an introvert and grew up that way. I took a public speaking class my freshman year of college that terrified the crap out of me but gave me a glimpse of light that people actually liked to see me speak… or maybe they just wanted the participation points.

Either way later on in life I was given the opportunity to speak to crowds, a couple as large as 25,000 and ever since then, I have been able to be both!

You have the weekend off, and no work needs to be done. What are you doing?

This is a tough one for me because I am “on” 24/7 but honestly, I LOVE what I do and what we are building so I would probably travel somewhere remote and let the creative juices start to flow creating our next big impact project. Most likely surrounded by white sands or big mountains and accompanied by a neat glass of extra anejo tequila.

Where was your favorite place you have ever visited?  Where do you want to go next?

Bali is one of my favorite places. If you do it right, it lives up to the hype. I’m planning to travel to Spain and live there for a month within the next year or so. That should be quite the experience.

Favorite movie? Why?

Ok this is weird. I don’t really have one. I have this thing where I have a really hard time watching movies twice… Is this a condition? Because if it is I would love to meet other people who have it. We can start a support group lol.

But if I had to choose a movie that is always funny… Ace Venture when nature calls. If anyone says Ace Venture pet detective they were dropped when they were a baby.

What kind of music is your favorite? Do you have a favorite artist?

I am a chameleon when it comes to music. I like everything. Right now I toggle between gangster rap, classical masterpieces, EDM(ish), country, 90’s R&B, and reggaeton.

Favorite food and favorite restaurant? Why?

In AZ I have two of them. Pasta Brioni has the best chicken parm in the southwest. Richardson’s has hands down the best Mexican food in AZ. The green chili is legendary.

Where is your favorite place to grab a cocktail?

Grey Hen Rx – Mezcal Cocktail

The Mission – tequila flight

Bourbon & Bone – Old Fashioned

Dominick’s – Tequila Old Fashioned

Bitter & Twisted – any of their cocktails

AZ 88 – Martini’s

If you were to take another MEP selectee on a date, where would you take them and why?

I would take them too _______! It depends on their drink style and taste in food. Its all about creating the experience. That can be done at a mom n pop shop with a cold beer or at a 5 star restaurant with a martini.

Tell us something that many people may not know about you:

This is fun. I have two huskies and an impeccable dog hair clean up routine. I am left-handed. Despite my ethnicity, I do not speak Spanish. I love sitting around watching Netflix as much as I like being at black-tie events. I grew up in a town called Gallup NM that you most likely have driven through at some point.
