Face of Foothills Finalist: Amanda Taylor

Amanda Taylor 3

Name: Amanda Taylor

Age: 36

Title: Face of Foothills Finalist

Married/Single: Married 16 years

Kids: Two girls ages 7 and 13

City you live in: Surprise

A typical day in my life includes…

if you asked my 7 year old she would say I get to stay home and watch TV all day but in reality my day starts at 4. Four to six am is my “happy hour”. It’s my time to meditate, study, yoga/bootcamp and get mentally and physically prepared for the day. Then I get my girls up and ready for school and take them to school. Depending on the day I am busy doing “mom” chores and errands, volunteering at the school or doing service projects or church projects, sometimes doing Sonoran Living segments. Then after school helping with homework, taking my girls to piano lessons, soccer, basketball, church activities, etc. Dinner and family time and after the girls go to bed I make their lunches for the next day and spend time with my husband discussing our days and usually watching a show or read as we wind down.

I was born…

in Montana and raised in Idaho.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

we moved here from Kansas 4 years ago where we resided for 13 years so living in Surprise we still get to see our Kansas City Royals during their spring training so that is a nice thing about being here and still having a little bit of Kansas with us.

I’m listening to…

Christmas music…I love this time of year and the spirit of the holidays and switching up my playlist for a month. I do love some 80’s rock though! I am usually listening to a variety of music though I love music it speaks to my soul and you can find just about anything on my playlist.

My family…

is my everything! I believe family is the most important part of my life. It’s who we will spend the eternities with so we should make it a priority to love and take care of each other and be grateful for them.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

my grandparents, my mother’s parents, whom I never met. They both passed away by the time my mother was 16. I would love to get to meet them and spend some time with them and have my girls meet them as well.

One thing I cannot live without…

my faith. It is my foundation and my rock. It’s what keeps my marriage and family strong and together. It is what grounds me and brings me peace and understanding through life’s trials and brings me such great blessings and love.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a nurse/fashion designer/writer.

I’m inspired by…

Mary the mother of Jesus, as a mother I am amazed by this woman and her strength, compassion, and love and all she went through to raise the Saviour.

The one person who motivates me is…

my husband he amazes me every day with his patience, love, hard work, and support he has for me with EVERYTHING! My love grows everyday for this man.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

to find a cure for cancer. I have had so many family members and friends who have been affected that it hits home and I would love to rid the world of this disease. Also to make sure all the children who are orphans or needing a family would have just that.

The perfect day would be…

honestly a perfect day would be waking up with nothing to do. A clean house, laundry done, my meals made for me, a good book, and maybe a nap!

My first job was…

at a little hamburger drive thru called “Burger Time” I took orders, and made shakes. An old time burger joint that I had the opportunity this last month over Thanksgiving to take my girls to and show them where I first worked. It’s still there!

My favorite escape…

my meditation/yoga.

My life…

is not perfect but it’s perfect for me.

I’m currently working on…

more yoga training/nutrition training and learning to sew.

Always…

remember you are worth it! Remember to love yourself and who you are and that you are doing exactly what you need to be at this time and if not you have the power to change! You can do anything you set your mind and heart to do!

Never…

give up! Never feel like you are unworthy of anything, especially love. We are all worthy to love and be loved! Also never be ungrateful. Always have an attitude of gratitude. There is always something to be thankful for!

Favorite Quote…

I am a quote junkie so I have so many I love. One of my favorites is “Come what may and love it”.

Biggest Dream…

I have a few. One is to open my own Yoga studio. Two, own a ranch that would be a secluded place of serenity for those who have cancer or going through treatments or just need a place to get away for a week to come and relax from everything.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

when people don’t put their grocery carts away. I mean it’s really not that hard

to put it in the designated area instead of leaving it in the parking lot. There is a spot for them especially when it’s only like 2 feet away. Seriously let’s not be lazy!
