A typical day in my life includes

I wake up early have a cup of coffee with my wife Nicole. I watch my son wake up and get his diaper changed. I head to the gym and work through whatever administrative needs there are and work with my first clients of the day. Around 10am, I train myself for 1-2 hours depending on the program for the day. Then I have lunch and get back to work either programming, training clients, or coaching classes at CrossFit PHX. My day can end as early as noon, or as late as 9pm depending.

I was born…

in Madrid, Spain. My parents were both career Air Force veterans and my 3 brothers and I got to grow up around the world: the Philippines, New Mexico, Okinawa, Alabama, Maryland. All before I graduated high school.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

even its coldest day, it is still warm. However, the other 3 seasons are a short drive away whenever I get the itch to change it up.

I’m listening to…

audiobooks about business and personal growth, CONSTANTLY.

My family…

is huge. I am number four of six: two sisters, three brothers. Four nephews, three nieces.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

my dad, who passed away 10 years ago, so we could compare notes on fatherhood, and he could meet his grandson.

One thing I cannot live without…

my wife. Nicole does a great job not only raising our little boy Trystan, but she has all these creative ways to calm the proverbial storms I create in my head around the growth of my business. She also helps me sift through all the crazy ideas I have a daily basis and helps me stay balanced.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

I am so fortunate! I am doing exactly what I wanted to do when I was 17 years old.

I’m inspired by…

the members of CrossFit PHX and our coaches. Watching people commit themselves to bettering their lives and seeing “ah hah” moments that occur as they achieve their goals, you can’t help but be inspired. My coaches, who I’ve mentored and helped achieve their personal and professional growth, show me the importance of being a “forever student” as they have taught me as much as I’ve taught them. Indeed the reason we were rated the #1 CrossFit Gym 2017 by Men’s Fitness Magazine.

The one person who motivates me is…

John Keogh, a client, a friend, and a mentor that built a successful business while being an amazing father and husband. He has proven that it is indeed possible to do all three and do it well while enjoying the process along the way.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

for our society to recognize the importance of their health and fitness and how much power they actually have to change their circumstances with the choices they make.

The perfect day would be…

wake up. Kiss my wife. Help get the kids ready. Train a few clients. Workout. Read a book. Do a podcast with someone who is crushing it in life. Have dinner with my family. Watch a movie and have a beer.

My first job was…

stock boy at Bed Bath & Beyond.

My favorite escape…

travel.

My life…

is the product of lessons learned along the way, good and bad. “I only got this far because of what I did not know.”

I’m currently working on…

two books, both with working titles. One in nutrition and training education. The other in personal growth and leadership.

Always…

learning.

Never…

give in to your own negative self-talk. There is enough negativity in the world. The last place you need to get it from is from within.

Favorite Quote…

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the road less traveled by. And that has made all difference.” – Robert Frost

Biggest Dream…

to build a legacy that outlives me. Starting with CrossFit PHX, a fixture in the community as a haven for personal growth that embraces the challenge of living outside your comfort zone, which spills over to other facets of your life.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

watching movies with people that ask a lot of questions 🙂
