Title: Head Brewer/Brewery Manager at the Ranch House Brewery at SaddleBrooke Ranch, a Robson Resort Community

Married/Single: married to my beautiful wife since 4/22/17

Kids: not yet…

City you live in: Tucson, AZ

A typical day in my life includes…

brewing beer, spending time with my family and friends, getting outside and enjoying everything Arizona has to offer.

I was born…

in Tucson, AZ.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

the endless amount of outdoor activities.

I’m listening to…

country music, but not this new country pop stuff.

My family…

I have no idea how they survived my younger years, but they have shaped me into the man I am today. I wouldn’t change them for the world.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Ken Grossman, the Founder of Sierra Nevada Brewing.

One thing I cannot live without…

beer.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a chemical engineer, but what I do now is close enough.

I’m inspired by…

my dad. He built a successful business from the ground up and has a never give up attitude which he instilled in me.

The one person who motivates me is…

my wife. She keeps me on track and when I start to veer she gets me back in line.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

poor living conditions in poverty stricken countries.

The perfect day would be…

spending time with family and friends on an island in the Caribbean.

My first job was…

serving ice cream at Cold Stone.

My favorite escape…

anywhere in the Caribbean; my wife and I are headed to Antigua next year.

My life…

has had its ups and downs, but everything has come together and I’m getting to do my hobby for a living.

I’m currently working on…

making the brewery at SaddleBrooke Ranch a successful business, exposing residents to craft beer and crafting beer to the highest possible level.

Always…

go with your gut.

Never…

never give up or settle, people are much more capable of things than what they sometimes think.

Favorite Quote…

“The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary”.

Biggest Dream…

running a large scale production brewery that distributes beer nationwide.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

laziness and a bad attitude.

More about Josh…

Josh Johnson has joined the team at SaddleBrooke Ranch as the Brewmaster. Josh has been busy establishing a brewery for the new SaddleBrooke Ranch Clubhouse which is planned to open this November. Upon completion, the Ranch House Clubhouse, spanning 40,000 sq. ft. under roof, will offer upscale amenities including a ballroom/auditorium with stage, full-service grill and U-shaped bar, private dining room, full-service grill, separate hand-crafted pizza station, outdoor terraces and event lawn.

Born and raised in Tucson, Johnson knew from the time he began home brewing in 2009 that he wanted to make a career of it. In 2013, Johnson and a friend competed in the “Top Hops Brew Challenge” charity event at Thunder Canyon Brewery in Tucson. After winning several awards over the years, he continued home brewing and working with other breweries in the hopes of finding that perfect fit.

Johnson was hired by SaddleBrooke Ranch for his brewing skills. He and George Atwell, Vice President of Food & Beverage for Robson Communities, Inc., have been busy establishing the new SaddleBrooke Ranch Brewery—opening later this year. Together they collaborated with a manufacturer in New Orleans to design and test the equipment. After almost two months of installing equipment, wiring, plumbing, and testing, the brewery is finally done. “The plan is to offer a Blonde Ale, an IPA, and maybe a monthly “featured” beer showcasing different styles,” Johnson revealed. “I look forward to growing this business and working with everyone at SaddleBrooke Ranch and the surrounding communities.”
