Age: 38

Title: Owner of Scottsdale Integrative Acupuncture, but you can call me ‘bruja blanca’ – a nickname I picked up in Peru while serving on a medical mission. Acupuncture truly seems magical sometimes!

Married/Single: Married

Kids: No

City you live in: Scottsdale

A typical day in my life includes…

being woken up at 5am by our hungry cat, Diego Rivera, sipping coffee, then going to yoga. Afterwards, I check the latest medical literature and read some case studies before heading to the clinic. Often times I will see patients until late in the evening, so my husband and I end up making dinner around 9pm! Fortunately, he thinks I’m a really good cook because he’s so hungry by the time we are finished cooking.

I was born…

in the Emerald City.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

is that there are so many active people here! I see a lot of patients with back or shoulder pain – and they are always so eager to get rid of the pain so they can continue to their active life of hiking, golfing, yoga, crossfit, etc.

I’m listening to…

Spanish news podcasts – I’m trying to improve my Spanish skills in mi tiempo libre.

My family…

is large, eclectic, and wonderful. And they let me stick them with needles!

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Elizabeth Gilbert – I was hooked when I watched her 2009 TED talk about finding your inner creative genius. Watch it – I promise, you won’t be sorry.

One thing I cannot live without…

sunscreen, of course! I’m constantly reminding my patients that being careful about UV exposure is the #1 thing they can do to prevent signs of aging.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

an astronaut…and a veterinarian, and the President. Oh, yeah I also wanted to be the President’s veterinarian. Aim high, they told me.

I’m inspired by…

my patients; they are always so curious about how acupuncture works and want to know more. I love sharing this ancient medicine with them and watching their surprise after I put a few needles in their leg and their shoulder pain goes away.

The one person who motivates me is…

my husband – he has my back 100%.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

to make self-care mandatory. So often I see patients come in with conditions that could have been easily avoided with just a little bit of preventative care.

The perfect day would be…

sleeping late, going to yoga, having brunch with friends, finding a great hiking spot, then making dinner and enjoying a bottle of wine with my husband.

My first job was…

a teller at Bank of America. I was in high school and the teller next to me was robbed, so my mom made me quit. Safety first!

My favorite escape…

is a book – the hallmark of a really good book is that it can transport you to another place.

My life…

is beautiful, amazing, and full of love – exactly how I want it to be!

I’m currently working on…

developing online courses and workshops to expand my reach and educate people about Chinese principles of nutrition, anti-aging, and pain management.

Always…

trust yourself. And wear sunscreen.

Never…

compare yourself to others.

Favorite Quote…

don’t tell people how hard you work, show them your results

Biggest Dream…

to make a difference in the lives of others.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

stray shopping carts in store parking lots. I’m always going out of my way to wrangle them into the cart corral so they don’t dent people’s cars.

More about Constance…

Constance Bradley, Ph.D., L.Ac., is the owner of Scottsdale Integrative Acupuncture. She is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and a 12-year Air Force veteran. During her time in the Air Force, she served as a Professor of Philosophy at the Air Force Academy and coached the Air Force triathlon team. When she became injured during a race, she turned to acupuncture and integrative medicine as a non-invasive way to heal her injuries without surgery. From that point on, she was sold on the benefits of acupuncture and set out to learn as much as possible about this ancient tradition. She is a Nationally Board Certified Acupuncturist and specializes in Pain Management and Cosmetic Acupuncture (yep, acupuncture facelifts are a thing).
