A typical day in my life includes…

kickstarting my day with a strong, hot black coffee. Getting ready for work, while trying to rouse a 14-year old to get out of bed and get ready for high school. I’m usually at the office around 8am. My days are filled with meetings, conference calls, but most importantly, time with my team. It seems like I always have people in my office, which brings me joy, because I know it means there are things happening. After work you’ll find me hitting up Orange Theory Fitness for 2-3 times a week, as well as cooking a great meal for the fam. I love cooking, having a glass of wine, and taking the time to digest the day. There is something so relaxing about putting on some music, and cooking. No text messages. No phone calls. No emails. My day typically ends with reading a book until I fall asleep so I can start the madness all over again.

I was born…

in good ol’ Spearfish, South Dakota. A small town, with three stop lights and about 9,000 people on a good day. I grew up in the Black Hills, which are idyllic and picturesque. I’ve played soccer since I can remember and started skiing when I was 2.5. Then I became a total rebel at 13 and started snowboarding. To this day it is one of my favorite activities! I miss the thunder and lightening storms in the summer, but knew from a career standpoint, I probably wouldn’t be able to achieve the goals I had in mind, so I moved to Phoenix when I was 19.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

the sunsets, hands down. I also love our proximity to the outdoors – camping, hiking, snowboarding and lakes.

I’m listening to…

one new audio book a month on my plane travels. Random radio stations that my Google Music suggests. Lastly, I binged the The Dropout – the podcast on Theranos. It was great!

My family…

is a group of badasses. My parents build and race old school motorcycles on the salt flats. My brother has an entrepreneurial spirt and is one of the best story tellers I’ve ever listen to. His wife and kids are the sweetest and most precious.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Michelle & Barak Obama. I just finished her audiobook, Becoming, and it was so amazing. I loved that she narrated the book. You could hear her passion, excitement, anger, etc. Her message about being a regular girl from the south side of Chicago but achieving the things she was able to inspired me. Her love and passion for helping other is also very evident.

One thing I cannot live without…

Google. I’m constantly looking things up. I love learning new things on the spot.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a fashion mogul, but apparently there is no cool fashion in South Dakota to learn from, so I quickly gave up on that dream.

I’m inspired by…

people’s stories. I love hearing how people got to where they are today. I gain so much perspective from their stories and learn a little lesson each time.

The one person who motivates me is…

my Mama. She was a small business owner while I was growing up. I think I learned a lot about hard work, treating people well, being courageous, and confidently following my gut from her. Even now she is the busiest “retired” person. She authored a novel. She is the secretary of treasury for their racing organization. She is a chief starter for motorcycle racing. And she is a great, loving wife, mother and Grandma!

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

racism. I wish it would just magically go away! We are all people. We can learn something from everyone. We just need to open our hearts and minds to hear

The perfect day would be…

any day spent walking around a new city, experiencing new foods, drinks, architecture, and cultures.

My first job was…

a hostess at Buffalo Bills Steakhouse in Deadwood, South Dakota.

My favorite escape…

taking a bath while reading a good book or sitting by our outdoor fire pit when the weather is nice.

My life…

rocks. I am still in awe of how much I’ve accomplished and the experiences I’ve had. I remain grateful and try to find small ways to give back to the people around me.

I’m currently working on…

figuring out our next big travel adventure. We are thinking Buenos Aries after Christmas, but tickets are so damn expensive.

Always…

smile. Laugh. Love. And find happiness in the smallest moment in life. Our lives are made out of a collection of small moments, brief interactions, tiny bits of beauty – relish it, and use those moments to fill yourself up.

Never…

be a jerk just because you can be.

Favorite Quote…

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

Biggest Dream…

is to live overseas someday, for a minimum of one year. Top of my list is Dublin, Ireland. But I would really try out any place that feels safe and welcoming.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

people who aren’t honest or transparent.
