A typical day in my life includes…

definitely being productive. I like getting stuff done. At the same time, I ask myself, “What is typical?” I like a routine to an extent, but I’d much rather prefer a day filled with endless possibilities to explore, and new challenges to solve!

I was born…

in Zhejiang Province, China.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

is the diversity! There are so many different things to do, opportunities to explore, and places to see. It makes my adventurous heart very, very happy.

I’m listening to…

Podcasts! Currently, Second Life and Working Girl Talk.

My family…

is my biggest supporter and source for inspiration!

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

my future self! Only because, I always think I have a plan for what’s going to happen in my future and then when I get to it, it always flip flops in a direction I never imagined it would, haha. I would be interested in what my future self is up to and what advice she would have for my current self (just hope I wouldn’t ‘That’s So Raven’ it and mess things up!)

One thing I cannot live without…

Jesus and green chile. Sorry, not sorry, there are two things I CANNOT live without, haha.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

a fashion designer, detective, and an animal rights activist!

I’m inspired by…

oh, so many things! Sometimes inspiration hits me walking from my car to the office or when I’m watching a movie, reading a book, or spending time in nature! I am a visual person and a deep thinker so a combination of both can definitely be a recipe for inspiration for me!

The one person who motivates me is…

my mom! She’s lived quite the life and her attitude, resilience, and wisdom are incredible.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

that every orphan would have the opportunity to grow up in a safe and loving home.

The perfect day would be…

waking up without an alarm, eating brunch (something with green chile on it), spending time in nature or at an art museum, sitting outside reading a book, and then enjoying a nice, quiet evening in (or a fun night out, depending on the day) with some close friends.

My first job was…

a background extra for the Disney Channel movie, Lemonade Mouth! I was 13 at the time. I’m the girl walking away from the camera with the bike in one of the beginning scenes.

My favorite escape…

locally: The Scott Resort, Modernique, and Phoenix Public Library! Not locally: home to New Mexico. I’ve learned to love the drive from PHX to ABQ. It can be a rewarding time to think, process, and/or listen to music and podcasts.

My life…

is always changing. I find it exciting, refreshing, and exhausting! I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m currently working on…

learning how to say, “no.” I’ve been the “yes!” girl for a long time, and it’s been amazing, but now I’m learning there is a balance between going for your goals and setting boundaries so you don’t get burnt out too much.

Always…

pray.

Never…

leave the house without Chapstick and wearing your favorite accessories. For me, that would be earrings!

Favorite Quote…

“When you have all that you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence.”

Biggest Dream…

so many! Run for public office…and win!

My Pet Peeve(s)…

inefficiencies in business and everyday life and inconsistencies in other’s words vs. actions.

More about Cathleen…

for as long as I can remember, I have been the creative type. I grew up immersed in the arts through dance and fashion design. From there, my passion for visual aesthetics were influenced by books, architecture, music, films, photography, and travel. These influences have led me down paths to various professional roles and opportunities in marketing, nonprofits, and politics.

I am currently enjoying first-time homeownership life, and my first adult career move working full-time in management and pursuing my MPA in Government and Policy at Grand Canyon University. When I’m not doing those things, I am running my own blog and business, Discovering Daly. Initially started as a blog, Discovering Daly, was created as a site to express my various passions and lessons throughout life and encourage others to do the same in their own lives. I recently made Discovering Daly an LLC, making me officially a business owner. Through this business entity, I work with individuals and business owners in discovering their unique brands and voices through direct social media management and consulting.

And if there is any time left in the day, I thoroughly enjoy a nice outing to a cool, new restaurant, traveling someplace new, spending time with friends and family, or a good book.
