A Natural Fit

Where to start?  How about from the present going backwards…I have lived in Scottsdale for almost 7 years with my family.  We moved all over the country, but once we moved here, there was no getting us out of the Valley.  We have lived in so many great cities, but Scottsdale is our favorite. I have enjoyed many years as a High School French Teacher and Corporate Attorney.  However, I made a career change to Luxury Residential Real Estate in North Scottsdale and Paradise Valley at Keller Williams Integrity First.  It was a natural fit for me. My experience in teaching and law have given me an edge in negotiating and having a firm grasp of the current market.  Also, my father was in commercial real estate for years.  I grew up watching and listening to him.  I have been very involved in the Valley for many years helping families with children with special needs.  When I am not working, I am currently helping with the Driving Out Domestic Violence Committee for Chrysalis to help put a stop to domestic violence.  I am also involved on Homeward Bound’s Old Bag Luncheon Committee. www.allisoncahill.com. I was born…

in Prairie Village, Kansas which is a suburb of Kansas City.  I have also lived in downtown Chicago for 5 years, Rochester, NY for 3 years and the Philadelphia area for a total of 6 years.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

is waking up and looking at my husband and saying. “Guess what? It is going to be sunny today!”  We moved her 7 years ago after years spent in Kansas City, Chicago, Philadelphia and Rochester, NY.  I love not having to check the weather before we go hiking, golfing or mountain biking.  Another thing I love, are Staycations.  We have the best resorts here.  I love that you can drive 3 miles and feel like you are miles away from your home.

I’m listening to…

iTunes-Mumford and Sons, The Black Keys, The Clash and Johnny Cash.  I have always been obsessed with music.

My family…

They are my foundation.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Mother Theresa.  She was a truly selfless person.  I admire how she helped so many while expecting nothing in return.

One thing I cannot live without…

iced tea and my iPhone.  Because, of this, I have dropped two of my iPhones into my iced tea in the last 18 months.  I now have a glass with a lid.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

the lead singer in a rock band.  Then, my aspirations changed dramatically to dreaming of being an attorney practicing international law.  I have always been fascinated with other cultures.  This led me to major in French and Secondary Education.  I taught for 6 years in order to save up enough money to pay for law school.  After law school, I didn’t quite make it to my international law dream, however,  I practiced as a corporate attorney specializing in asset protection. I have now moved on to real estate which allows me to use so many skills I used while practicing law.

I’m inspired by…

my children.

The one person who motivates me is…

my husband.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

helping everyone get along.

The perfect day would be…

a morning hike at the Gateway Trailhead in the McDowell Mountains, followed with 18 holes on Raptor at Grayhawk. Conclusion of my perfect day… a sunset walk on the trails by our home with my family and our crazy Kerry Blue Terrier

My first job was…

as a 12 year old, I worked bottling a cleaning chemical called “Forsight”  for a family member.  It paid little to nothing, but I felt the little bit of money gave me independence.  My first real job was as a High School French Teacher in Overland Park, Kansas.  I learned so much from my students.

My favorite escape…

any beach with my with family, a boogie board and a good book. My favorite beaches are Coronado, La Jolla and Rocky Point.

My life…

is evolving down a new path.  I could not be happier with where I have been, and where I am headed.

I’m currently working on…

helping several families move in and out of their homes.  This is what I love about real estate. One’s home is so important and I want to help people find their “home” not just a house.  This is  where they will create memories with loved ones.  It is also rewarding to help them sell homes that were full of so many memories and move on to another chapter in their lives.

Always…

be kind.

Never…

give up.  Never ever!

Favorite Quote…

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you’ve imagined!” -Thoreau

Biggest Dream…

is to start a foundation for children in Phoenix. There are so many worth causes that I don’t think I could ever pick just one. I currently am on two committees in the Valley helping raise money to prevent domestic violence and help families get out of homelessness. With my own foundation,  I will raise money to be distributed each year to children’s charities that are the most in need of the funds.  These would include charities that work with special needs, child abuse and neglect, homelessness, childhood cancers, diabetes,  and learning disabilities.  I would also use the foundation to set up a free legal clinic for families with children with special needs and disabilities who need an advocate.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

when people don’t return the shopping cart.  Really?  Especially in this climate.  It’s not snowing on us.  It’s not pouring down rain. Okay, given 4 months out of the year, you may get sunburned returning the cart, but come on…walk an extra 20 steps and return your cart.
