Niki Woehler: Super Marketing Mom

We began 17 sentences that each person finished in their own words. Here’s what this female marketing rock star, Niki Woehler, had to say about family, fashion events and everything in between.

Name: Niki Woehler
Age: 41!
Title: President/Owner of Flavor Marketing
Married/Single: Engaged
Kids: 3
Live: Phoenix

I was born…

in Toronto, Canada. I moved to the US in 1993. Phoenix specifically in 1994.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

the sunsets and the smell of the orange blossoms. The smell is intoxicating. I drive around with all of my windows down when the orange trees are in bloom.

Currently, I’m listening to…

Seth Troxler live on BBC, Geographer, Empire of the Sun, Matthew Dear, Vinyl Station, Neon Indian.

My family…

is my world, my daily source of laughter, my biggest supporters, greatest source of pride, and my greatest passion. They’re the reason I get up (someone has to drive them to school), the reason I work as hard as I do (have you priced 3 kids lately?), and without a doubt, the reason my house is always a complete disaster.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Jack Nicholson or Chelsea Handler. They’ve got to have some incredible stories.

One thing I cannot live without…

is dancing… all night long until the sun rises in the sky, and then we keep going. And going. It’s cathartic for me. Almost a religious experience actually.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

well if you had asked that of my daughter, she would have said “a banana” (yes… as in Chiquita… thank goodness that phase is over). But for me, I don’t actually ever remember knowing what I wanted to do. I remember my mother telling me I should be an attorney, and all the aptitude testing confirming her “suggestion”, but as I’m sitting here trying to remember back…way back… nope…no specific memory coming to mind.

I’m inspired by…

youth. It’s their energy, and passion. The fact that they haven’t been around long enough to think they can’t do something, because life hasn’t had a chance to beat them into submission, they try. Sometimes it actually works and we get something new and cool! I love to hang out where there are 20 somethings, and find that the majority of my friends are at least 10 years younger than I am. And let’s face it, they always find the coolest music first. Keeps me looking cool in my kids’ eyes. And THAT is a big deal.

The one person who motivates me is…

me. At the end of the day, I believe you can’t rely on anyone else to give you get up and go. It’s inside of you ,or it’s not. You can rely on people to cheer you on, understand your vision and be supportive of your efforts, show you a different viewpoint, let you cry on their shoulder when it’s been a bad day, celebrate with you when you win, and remind you that the bills are due, or the kids need new bikes, but only you can give you the motivation to do whatever it is you’ve set as a goal.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

intolerance. I don’t understand how can hate another because of the color of their skin, who they prefer to kiss, or what god they pray to (or don’t). It’s really no one’s business, and shouldn’t even be a topic of discussion. We are all human beings, and should be treated respectfully. The debates flying around these days hurt my head. What a waste of everyone’s time. Live and let live.

The perfect day would be…

on a boat in the middle of the Mediterranean. The people I love most the world beside me, great food, great music, endless wine, lots of laughter, and dancing!

My first job was…

at a small deli. I quit when I almost lost my fingers slicing meat and got a job at a movie theater. I still won’t ever eat the nachos with cheese. What we did to that cheese…oh those poor poor people…

My favorite escape…

is actually a quiet night at home with my fiancé. A couple (few) bottles wine, a fire in the fireplace, music playing, and talking about anything and everything until the wee hours of the morning. Our “us time” recharges my batteries more than just about anything else.

My life…

is a work in progress and I love it. I wouldn’t trade it for anyone else’s life. I feel like the luckiest and most blessed woman on the planet most days. Don’t get me wrong, some days I threaten to shoot myself in the toe just to get a couple days “vacation” and I rail at the world… but for the most part, I wouldn’t trade any of it.

I’m currently working on…

several really exciting projects that have me running at the of light. We’ve got three Celebrity Fashion shows in a span of 6 weeks. T. Rains is at W Scottsdale on September 22nd, an LA based, hip, edgy designer that rock stars love to call favorite. Kaya Jones, former Pussycat Doll will be making a special appearance, both singing her newest release, and WALKING in the show. On October 6th, we have the privilege of presenting the spectacular Spring 2013 Couture and RTW collections for Michael Costello, at W Scottsdale, and on October 26th, a full production Celebrity Fashion Show featuring Furne One of Dubai, to benefit the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation at a private Hangar in the Scottsdale AirCenter. The CDRF is providing our celebrity host for the evening. They haven’t confirmed who it will be yet, but I would be THRILLED if we’re lucky enough to get any one of their past event supporters. When you’re looking at names like Chelsea Handler, Alec Baldwin, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Mark Ruffalo, and Catherine Zeta-Jones on your list of “potential Emcees”, it’s kind of surreal. When I started my agency almost 10 years ago now, working with designers and celebrities of this caliber was a dream that got me through what felt like complete insanity at times. I think it’s so cool that the Valley is starting to get big name Fashion designers showing their collections here, and even cooler that I get to be a part of it. But that’s not the end of it. Flavor Marketing has a few more surprises waiting to be
announced…just not quite yet! It’s all about timing.

Always…

check your teeth after eating broccoli, or anything green for that matter. Seriously embarrassing when you realize you just spent the last 5 hours advertising that salad you ate for lunch and no one told you.

Never…

give up. Ever.
