Guided Home Design is one of the premier interior design companies in the state, elevating interiors across Arizona and beyond. An Arizona Foothills Best of our Valley winner, the company relies on an in-depth process to ensure the interior of each project accurately reflects the uniqueness of its clients.
“Our name says it all,” Owner Kristen Hancock said. “We guide our clients through their homes. We really like to take an angle of thoroughly hearing the client out and making their vision come to life.”
Founded in 2006, Guided Home Design has developed trade relationships with expert vendors throughout its almost 20 years of operation. Hancock joined the company a few years after its formation, working her way up the ranks before becoming owner in 2019.
“We offer our expertise and knowledge in the industry, trends, that sort of thing, ensuring that we ultimately deliver the most timeless end product to the customer,” Hancock said. “At the end of the day, they’re living in it. It is our work, but we want it to really embody their vision. That’s what we really pride ourselves in.”
Each project begins with an in-depth consult where designers break down the tastes and preferences of the client, but also how they function in their daily life. Functionality, along with style, is a top priority in every home.
“In this industry, listening to your customer is hugely related to the success of your project,” Hancock said. “We make sure that we really listen and ask the right questions.”
Aesthetic direction is determined by the style each client wants to bring to life. Guided Home Design bases its general design on “priority areas” the rest of the space is developed around. Options are presented to the client, along with possible materials before other portions of the house are considered.
“We always have alternatives along with the highly recommended option, so the client feels like we open their eyes to a variety of ways to approach the space,” Hancock said.
After initial designs are chosen, designers meticulously fine tune the drawings and renderings until they align with the client’s vision. Client Chris Cotter worked with the company to design the inside of a house.
“Guided Home Design made the entire process — from demo to new build — feel seamless,” Cotter said. “Their vision was clear from the start, and their ability to translate ideas into beautiful, functional spaces was next level.”
Project Villa Revive, the house Cotter and Guided Home Design worked together on, features marble finishes, arches and a distinctive desert chic accentuated by classic neutral tones.
“Every detail was thoughtfully considered, and their creativity and expertise brought the new build to life even better than I imagined,” Cotter said.
This close attention uses a variety of colors, materials and styles to reflect the uniqueness of each client’s vision.
“What sets us apart is that you’ll see that we have a range of styles in our projects, from transitional to ultra-modern to European influences,” Hancock said. “We work with all styles and that’s what honestly keeps it interesting for us.”
Guided Home Design began taking its expertise nationwide through its e-commerce brand. Through virtual consults and walkthroughs, designers can meet with clients and provide the same expertise across state lines.
Along with expanding outside of Arizona, the company n has grown an online extension of its brand Style Me by Guided Home Design. StyleMeGHD is a home decor and furniture store that includes collections not available in retail stores. Shoppers find pieces featured on the brand’s Instagram and take inspiration from past projects to implement in their own homes, without going through the traditional interior design process.
“We end up with some great friends at the end of every project,” Hancock said. “We get so close to the families and that’s what makes it special, seeing their joy and seeing the family thrive in that space.”
