A new social and recreational destination is taking shape at Saddleback, the 5,300-acre master-planned community in Peoria, where construction is officially underway on Basecamp, a $10 million amenity designed to become the heart of the community.
Slated to open in summer 2027, Basecamp will span approximately 16 acres and offer residents places to gather, play, relax and connect. Designed to complement its surroundings, the destination will feature low-profile architecture, shaded retreats and layered desert landscaping, with indoor and outdoor spaces flowing together for everything from casual gatherings to community programming.
At the center will be a resort-style pool surrounded by shaded lounging areas, courtyards and a dedicated splash pad. An expansive 10,000-square-foot event lawn will provide space for events, celebrations and outdoor activities, while lounges, games, grilling areas and dedicated space for food trucks will encourage residents to linger.
For those who prefer their leisure time with a little more adrenaline, Basecamp will offer a quarter-mile bike pump track, bike barn and outfitter, climbing boulder and 200-step fitness challenge. A dedicated fitness space will also provide opportunities for organized wellness and fitness activities.

It’s a place where residents can come together, stay active, enjoy the outdoors and build connections,” said Carlee Ryan, vice president of development at Castle Hill Partners. “Our partners at Collaborative Design Studio and RVi knocked it out of the park, creating a design that works in harmony with the desert.”
The groundbreaking comes as Saddleback gains momentum toward welcoming its first residents this fall. Taylor Morrison recently opened its model homes, while Lennar’s models are anticipated to open soon.
Developed by Austin-based Castle Hill Partners, Saddleback is located approximately 40 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix and five miles from Lake Pleasant. The community offers convenient access to employment hubs including TSMC Arizona, BNSF Industrial Park and the forthcoming Amkor facility, along with recreational destinations such as Quintero Golf Club and Scorpion Bay Marina.
Outdoor living will be central to the community’s identity, with more than 60 miles of trails planned, including the 13-mile Saddleback Trail connecting scenic summits. When fully built out, Saddleback is entitled for approximately 6,500 single-family homes, multifamily residences, resort-inspired amenities, a resort and up to 2 million square feet of commercial space.
