Print Fever

This year I decided that I would take the plunge, step out the box, expand my borders, get out of my comfort zone—and stop wearing solids—and start wearing prints. Of course, what better time than spring and summer to kick off my style new year’s resolution? Thanks to designers like Dolce & Gabbanna and their vegetable prints, Prada with their too-cool-hot rod and flame prints, and the fancy pants at Cynthia Rowley… I am ready to show the fun side of my wardrobe and want you to join me! Here are some print-building wardrobe must-haves.

At Nordstrom, $138

Let’s jump right in with this psychedelic-esque Presley Skye snake print silk dress. This faux-wrap dress may have bright/bold colors and a crazy print but the classic silhouette combined with a solid handbag and a nude pair of pumps can make it undoubtedly chic.

At Net-A-Porter, $1,745

Florals are the trademark of any springtime wardrobe, but in an attempt to think, well dress, outside of the box choose a pretty, floral, statement jacket instead of the usual floral dress. This Dolce & Gabanna peony-print jacket can be paired with jeans and a tee or with the matching skirt!

At Anthropologie, $138

In love with this Blanched crocus maxi skirt by Rozae Nichols, the oversized print and stripe combo make it a double-duty print extravaganza. Wear with a vibrant silk blouse, plain white tee, and either your favorite pair of flat sandals or sky-high wedges.

At J. Crew, $148

There are pants and then there are pants… These J. crew ‘Big Apple’ pants are no doubt reminiscent of the Dolce & Gabanna vegetable collection for Spring 2012. The pattern is said to have been “discovered in the archives of one of Italy’s top mills-Combo-based Ratti…” and is made of pebbled cotton pique.

At Net-A-Porter, $200

Where there are fancy pants there are adorable fancy shorts. Paul & Joe Sister is who we can thanks for these Piou Piou 50s inspired cotton-blend shorts. You can wear these little birdies with a cute lace blouse and your favorite metallic sandals for a day full of fun in the sun!

At Nordstrom, $795

A pair of printed wedges may be the easiest and safest way to ease yourself into the whole idea of wearing prints this season. This vibrant floral Jimmy Choo pair is fresh, fun, and the perfect remedy for any overwhelmingly solid outfit.
