Must Have Accessories

Even though the weather has been rather fickle, one day warm and the next day under seventy degrees don’t let it discourage you from donning the latest Spring trends. Even if like me you can’t afford to ring up a six figure receipt at the mall try some of my favorite accessories that add an instant wow factor without completely denting your bank account.
If you already posses a closet full of staples like a perfect pair or jeans, a few well fitted blouses, black skirt or dress you can of course create a bevy of outfits just by doing a quick change in your accessories.

Since my schedule often includes running from location to location providing makeup for a variety of clients in one day I learned years ago to stuff my handbag (or car) with a few extra bracelets, rings, shoes or scarves to change up my look depending on the location.
Of course my overstuffed and weighed down handbag is often the target of jokes but it serves me well…especially this weekend when this city had no shortage of black tie events.

One of my signatures since the early 80’s had been wearing a stack of bracelets and I still find it’s the easiest way to freshen up an outfit. I adore the resin bracelets from Sonia Rykiel this season they are so versatile and wearable that you will have them for years to come!

Another amazing addition are the tribal print scarves that Dries Van Notten did this season. A scarf not only adds instant glamour but these little numbers lend an instant pop of color as well and will dress up even a plain tee and jeans.

No one will even notice that you are wearing that skirt from three seasons ago when you sport these Alexander Wang Eliza wedge shoes. Is there any other word for these than Hot?

And of course a new bag is a must every season. This Temperly zebra pouch is to die for and adds a touch of safari to your ensemble. Another cheerful Spring bag is the Coach Audrey bag. Normally I am not one to love a floral bag, except for my vintage pieces but this one is far to darling to pass up!

Lastly a touch of studding works with just about any look this season and lends a bad-girl vibe. I always love Jennifer Behr hair accessories like this studded bow headband and spikey wrap. Wear this with a chain necklace and a pile or metal bangles.
