4 Must-Try Denim Trends

Today was a sad day for me as I have officially worn a hole in my favorite pair of jeans. You know the pair—they fit perfectly, worn in all the right places, comfortable, and they go with anything (ok maybe not anything but I wear them anyway). I’m sure you know where this is heading…but as sad as I am there is that little tiny fashion maven inside of me that is dying to get her hands on a new pair of jeans. So just like that, I’ve said goodbye to my old jeans and am I on the hunt for my next pair.

Lucky for me and you, denim has once again made a huge comeback this year—so not only is there a fabulous array of jeans to choose from but also denim vests, skirts, shirts and more.

I don’t know about you, but when I think jeans—I think Gap. I’ve been purchasing my jeans from The Gap for nearly 10 years and their new fall ad campaign has me more excited than ever. My favorite style is the Real Straight, which offer a classic and streamlined look without being too tight—a happy medium between skinny and bootcut you can wear them with heels, boots, or flats. Perfect for a basic tee and fitted blazer. 7 For All Mankind’s “Kimmie” Curvy Straight Leg is another great straight jean to get your hands on. Bloomingdales even chose this style as one of its 5 Universal Jeans, so you can be confident that you’ll look great in them.

Get in the back of that closet and pull out your medium wash denim jackets ladies cause they are back! This is a classic way to update your summer look as we head into fall. Put on over your favorite summer dresses or give it a sweet iced-tea on the porch kind of feel with a gingham button-up.

At Net-A-Porter

There is something about a denim shirt dress that I just love. Maybe it’s the whole western turned ultra feminine vibe it has going. The shirt dress is a fun way to mix summer and fall looks together. If you are not a fan of cowgirl boots and want something a little more high fashion go with a pair of brown leather ankle boots and metallic bronze leggings like the Miu Miu pair shown here. Still too hot? Skip the leggings and choose an over-the-shoulder western style leather purse.

At Nordstrom

There are plenty of denim vest styles: cropped, fitted, zipped, buttoned…but my favorite is oversized and like a man. Okay maybe not exactly—an oversized denim vest is a chic way to participate in the menswear look. Ralph Lauren had it 100% correct in his 2010 RTW collection. If you are a literalist like me, I say go out and purchase a men’s vest for that true oversize feel and pair it with a feminine button-up and pleated shorts or tuxedo pant.
