INTERMIX Opens at Scottsdale Quarter

Get your shopping bags ready, Valley fashionistas. A major fashion retailer has just made Scottsdale its new home. On Monday, INTERMIX opened its doors at Scottsdale Quarter.

INTERMIX is known for its highly curated selection of apparel and accessories from both emerging and established designers, like Rag & Bone, Herve Leger, Diane von Furstenberg, Valentino and more.

As the international retailer’s first Arizona location, the décor of the new 1,500 square-foot boutique features a neutral color palette that’s inspired by the desert landscape. White-washed oak wood paneling and rich brown-stained wood floors support the luxurious custom rugs, leather tabletops, natural suede upholstery, and fitting room seats made of Italian leather.

INTERMIX is celebrating Scottsdale as its 39th location with a custom, limited edition Scottsdale sweatshirt in partnership with ELEVENPARIS and typographical designer and artist, Pieter Ceizer.

Style Files caught up with Khajak Keledjian, co-founder and chief executive of INTERMIX, about what Valley shoppers can look forward to at the new INTERMIX Scottsdale.

AFM: Why Scottsdale?
KK: We’re introducing Scottsdale to the INTERMIX point of view, bringing our unique, intimate shopping experience, edited selection, and the most current styles and designers. We’ve penetrated the market through our online business, but we want to have a presence on the ground so we can further deliver the luxe shopping experience and personal service we’re known for.

AFM: What can Valley shoppers look forward to at INTERMIX Scottsdale?
KK: We offer a curated assortment of must-have styles from emerging and established designers, side by side in an intimate setting. Our stores are thoughtfully merchandised so each reflects the vibe of its neighborhood – both how we style and which designers and pieces we carry. We’re known for our unexpected, nuanced styling – our personal stylists work one-on-one with clients to create unique looks. Also, about 30% of our merchandise is made exclusively for us, so it’s from designers our clients look for, but it’s special and not available anywhere else.

AFM: Please identify any hot summer trends the store might carry —
KK: All white looks – in different fabrications like white denim, silky trousers and crochets;
Athletic influences – cropped tops, bomber jackets and sweatshirts;
Feminine accents – lace in rompers, cropped tops, skirts; floral prints; fluid trousers and easy dresses; blush tones and soft pastels.

AFM: Please elaborate on the limited edition INTERMIX x Pieter Ceizer sweatshirt designed for Scottsdale. And, for how long will this item be available?
KK: INTERMIX partnered with artist Pieter Ceizer and ELEVENPARIS on limited-edition sweatshirts in celebration of the next set of INTERMIX boutiques. The limited-edition sweatshirts will debut one at a time, starting in May 2014, with each city’s design launching at its store opening and on www.intermixonline.com and will retail for $98. The sweatshirt designed for Scottsdale features a custom “A to Z” design and is currently available in-store and online until supplies last.
