Though award season celebrates some of the best creative talent and achievements in Hollywood, it also brings out some of the best – and, sometimes, worst – celebrity fashion. From elaborate dresses to the last bit of accessorized sparkle, everyone looks forward to seeing what celebrities choose to wear down the red carpet and how they style their looks with accessories and hair and makeup.
Beyond the glitz and the glamour, have you ever wondered how much these red carpet looks actually cost? Thanks to Vogue Australia, some of the most expensive 2014 Oscars red carpet looks have been broken down and added together, resulting in some shocking grand totals.
Cate Blanchett wore the most expensive red carpet look at this year’s Oscars. The actress’s gorgeous Armani Privé gown rings in at $100,000. Blanchett accessorized her look with $18 million-worth of Chopard jewelry, including earrings with 62 opals and a diamond bracelet and ring. This brings the grand total of Blanchett’s Oscars red carpet ensemble to a cool $18.1 million.
Meanwhile, Charlize Theron’s Oscars outfit claimed to be the second most expensive. Her elegant Dior dress and Harry Winston jewels totaled to $15.89 million.
Sandra Bullock came in third at $8.24 million with her Alexander McQueen dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, while Margot Robbie’s outfit cost $8.012 million and Jennifer Garner’s Oscar de la Renta gown and jewelry totaled $5.025 million.
