When you’re a die-hard girly girl like myself, you hardly ever tire of the old standard to be pretty in pink. And this spring, Lancome cosmetics has unveiled their spring 2009 color collection that definitely channels the old adage of being pretty in pink. The Pink Irreverance collection, the latest color collection by Lancome’s artistic director, Aaron DeMay, combines soft shades of pink and contrasts them with deep black. DeMay contributes his inspiration to the feminitiy of French heroines like Madame Bovary, Marie Curie, Brigitte Bardot and Sylvie Fleurie.

To me, this collection screams Barbie girl; but it also  conjures up a mood that’s striking, daring and confident too. The Spring pinks contrasted with deep black are an unexpected yet totally delicious pairing.

The products in the collection are meant to be layered. The pink takes cues from Lancome’s iconic rose emblem while the shades of black are reminiscent of the volcanic black beaches of Piha in New Zealand, Aaron Demay’s home land.

The Color Design Eyeshadow Quad (pictured above) comes in two different palette’s of pinks and black that’s meant to be layered for creating a demure or dramatic look. The palletes retail for $42.

Here are some of the other offerings available in the Pink Irreverance spring 2009 color collection:

Laque Liner ($25) that comes with a black shade and a clear shimmer formula as well.

La Laque Fever Full Color Lipshine($26) that gives multi-dimensional shine that lasts for up to six hours. The La Laque Fever Full Color Lipshine is available in four shades: Electric Pink, Optical Rose, Lucent Nude and Iridescent.

  1. I like the eye shadow quad. I like to use bright and black colors to smudge into my eye liner…it doesn’t look too dramatic that way.

  2. i love Lancome, becuase it reminds me of my Grandma. she always used it. nt as slick as this new stuff, but still it was all Lancome for her!

  3. Me likeyyy. Nice to see Lancome revamping a little. About time, because they really do have a great product.

  4. I love doing up my eyes with make-up! These colors look great. I definitely would want to try the lip gloss too. Also this brand is affordable! Make-up can get expensive really fast.
