Get the Look – Lea Michelle and Claire Danes Emmy Beauty

Even tough I am deep in the throws of shooting fall fashion the gorgeous and sunny hair and makeup looks from the Emmy Awards are still on my mind. I find myself wishing that I had Lea Michelle’s hair or Claire Danes pretty glowing makeup. There were of course some celebs that were just off the hook like Heidi Klum who’s voluminous lashes and smouldery eyes were to die for!

Or Keri Russell’s pretty toussled bun topped off with an oversized and impossibly darling white flower comb by Jennifer Behr. Her style was created by hairstylist Jonathan Hanousek and it was the perfect pairing with her vintage dress.

How about Julia Louis-Dreyfus with her sleek straight locks done by Oscar Blandi? Blandi said in an interview “I wanted to create a hairstyle that had an effortless, chic quality so Julia would be comfortable all night,” And he succeeded!

And I give props to Kyra Segwick not only for her bohemian curls, but for taking a risk and not completely matching her lips to her burgundy dress which would have been a bit of a snooze, instead she went with a pretty fuchsia shade.

But the top two most talked about hair and makeup moments on the red carpet were Leah Michelle for those cascading curls and Claire Danes for the prettiest of all bronzed eye and flawless rosy lips and cheeks.

Here’s how their glam squads got the looks.

Mark Townsend was the expert behind Lea Michelle’s gorgeous head of hair. He used Dove Curl & Sculpt Defining Mousse throughout the hair, then blow-dried Lea’s hair using a small round brush to create lots of body. Next, he used three giant Velcro rollers on the top layer of her hair to create volume. He then sprayed on Dove Heat Defense Therapy Heat Activated Protect & Shine Mist before using a large 2-inch curling iron throughout the rest of hair. His secret to getting those tumbling soft shapes is to hold the iron horizontally to create the curls. The curls were pinned then left to cool and finger combed Finally, Mark sprayed a natural bristle brow brush with a strong hold hair spray and used it to part Lea’s bangs down the middle, then he pushed the sections loosely, and naturally to each side to give it a carefree look.

Claire Danes makeup look drew raves from just about everyone thanks to makeup artist Matin. He used Laure Mercier almost exclusively to create her look. First he massaged Laura Mercier Face Shield, and Primer into her skin. Then for her sparkling eyes, he rimmed them with Laura Mercier Copper Gold Kohl Pencil, and then used a solid gold shadow all over her lids. Followed by Temptation to add contour and Golden Mosaic to highlight, then he added Gel Bronzer on her outer face and neck to give her a pretty glow.
To finish up, a few coats of Full Blown Mascara, followed by Bonne Mine on her cheeks for a rosy glow. On her lips Sand Castle lipstick and a tiny bit of Bare Beige Glacee Gloss.”
