For celebrity and bridal makeup artist Valeria Nichols, beauty is about more than the final look. It is about helping every client feel comfortable, confident and cared for from the moment they sit in her chair.
Originally from Mexico City, Nichols moved to the United States five years ago with only a suitcase and began building a new life from the ground up. Although she originally studied law, makeup had always been part of her story. She started by doing makeup for friends and EDM artists before eventually launching VN Artistry with the encouragement of her husband, whom she credits as her biggest supporter.
Over the past year, Nichols’ social following has grown from about 100 to more than 40,000, thanks in part to her viral “melt into the chair” glam prep. The calming experience began when Nichols noticed a bride feeling overwhelmed during a destination wedding.
She used essential oils to help her relax and later added noise-canceling headphones, soothing music, facial massage and skin prep. Videos of the process went on to reach millions of views. Her philosophy, “The Art of Makeup, Redefined,” reflects her commitment to creating beauty that feels personal and timeless.
“It’s about understanding their features, their personality and their vision, then creating something that feels uniquely theirs,” Nichols said.
Nichols plans to expand her bridal work, collaborate with beauty brands and create more educational opportunities for artists. After recently co-hosting a sold-out makeup masterclass in Denver, she is also beginning to plan a multiday event for beauty professionals. Learn more at VN Artistry.
