St. Patrick’s Day in Phoenix

In the Valley, St. Patrick’s day is more than just a glass of green beer and four-leaf clovers. Deck out in green and get ready to celebrate at one of the many St. Patrick’s Day events and festivals the Valley has to offer:

Fleming’s Steakhouse and Wine Bar, 5 for 6 ’til 7:  The happy hour menu offers a selection of five premium cocktails, five award-winning wines by the glass and six signature appetizers priced at $6 each, every night till 7 p.m. Try a combination of goodies like an appletini, a glass of chardonnay, seared ahi tuna or wicked Cajun barbecue shrimp.

Flogging Molly: The Valley’s St. Patrick’s Day punk scene masters return for an encore, for another shot of good old-fashioned Celtic punk at Tempe Town Lake in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, March 17 at 11 a.m.

Kiss Me I’m Irish Run: On March 17 at precisely 7:17 a.m., the 4K, 8K and 17K run-walks begin with Irish music and a chocolate kiss for all participants at the finish line at Westgate City Center. Dad and lads who sign up get a special gift at the event and a portion of their registration fee goes to support prostate cancer. Prizes are awarded for top three finishers; best St. Patty’s themed running outfit, top dads and lads team and cutest pet.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Irish Faire: Hosted by the Irish Cultural Center, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Irish Faire  features the 2012 grand marshall, local publican Seamus McCaffrey, and the 2012 Irish Persons of the Year, Patricia and Sean Prior, founders of the Irish Cultural Center. The Family Faire features two stages of Irish music, Irish step dancing, bagpipers, food and beverages, Irish crafts and novelties, genealogy, Irish clubs and a children’s play area. March 17, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Scottsdale’s Ultimate Block Party, the St. Patrick’s Day Edition: For this year’s block party, party on the street with Rock band Authority Zero headlines with special guests, the Wednesday Machine, Grain of Truth and Moneyshot.  Admission includes entrance to bars Dos Gringos, Upper Deck and Rock Bar, and live entertainment. All proceeds benefit Every Kid Counts, a local charity dedicated to the social development of children. March 17, 3 p.m.-2 a.m.
