Beer lovers in Flagstaff have a new reason to raise a glass this summer. Historic Brewing Company has partnered with Dr. Kelly’s Surgical Unit to release Dog Days Witbier, a limited-edition craft beer that gives back to pets and the families who love them.
Brewed and canned in Flagstaff, the refreshing 4.6% ABV witbier does more than quench a thirst. A portion of every sale supports Dr. Kelly’s PAL Fund, a program that provides free and reduced-cost surgical care for pets whose owners are facing financial hardship.

“This partnership is really about meeting a community need in a creative, local way,” says Doug Patriquin, co-founder of Dr. Kelly’s. “There are so many pets and families in Northern Arizona who need help accessing care, and the PAL Fund allows us to step in when cost becomes the barrier.”
The idea for the collaboration began when Dr. Kelly’s approached Historic Brewing about creating a fundraiser that would generate financial support and raise awareness about the growing need for affordable veterinary care. The brewery quickly embraced the opportunity, recognizing that a locally crafted beer could serve as a fun and meaningful way to support a worthwhile cause.
That community-focused mission was celebrated during Historic Brewing Company’s Hot Dog Days of Summer event in July. Despite rainy weather, attendees stopped by the brewery to enjoy the festivities, which included adoptable dogs, a popular K9 demonstration and, of course, plenty of Dog Days Witbier.
For Historic Brewing Company, the collaboration was a natural extension of its commitment to supporting local organizations and strengthening the Flagstaff community.
“We jumped at the chance to support their mission and help local animals get the care they need,” says Zack Stoll, head brewer at Historic Brewing Company. “Dr. Kelly’s does so much more than spay and neuter services. Their team provides essential veterinary care that gives pets a better chance at staying healthy, staying out of shelters and finding loving homes.”
Since 2016, Dr. Kelly’s Surgical Unit has provided affordable surgical care to more than 300,000 dogs and cats throughout Arizona. Through financial assistance programs, partnerships and accessible veterinary services, the nonprofit works to ensure pet owners don’t have to choose between their finances and their animal’s health.
Dog Days Witbier is expected to be available on tap and in cans at Historic Brewing Company for the next several months, while supplies last. Learn more at historicbrewingcompany.com.
