Culinary Dropout Opens in Scottsdale

Oh, Sam. How does he do it? Today, yet another Fox Restaurant Concepts (Modern Steak, bloom, Sauce, Blanco Tacos +Tequila, True Food Kitchen, etc) restaurant opens in Scottsdale. Culinary Dropout (clever name, no?) opens in the Waterfront spot that used to house Pink Taco. Culinary Dropout is described as a casual, cool, chef-driven gastropub. The executive chef is Clint Woods.
I got a sneak peek at the menu–and my mouth is already watering. The menu has a slew of approachable eats that won’t break the bank, a nice followup to the ritzy Modern Steak that Fox opened in October. The Culinary Dropout menu features a nice lineup of cheese, meats and veggies in which to concoct your own antipasti plate. As far as appetizers, the soft pretzel with provolone fondue sounds out of this world. As for salads, sandwiches and burgers, you can get a pork belly Cubano, grilled cheese sliders, a pub burger covered in Havarti and bacon, and more. However, I’m most looking forward to digging my teeth into some of the tempting entrees: fried chicken with buttermilk biscuits and a honey drizzle, ricotta gnocchi, butternut squash cannelloni and short rib orecchiette. For dessert, apple monkey bread, vanilla and chocolate pudding parfait and caramelized banana splits.
Still need more reason to visit? The cocktail menu and beer list looks super impressive to me. I’ll take a Jalisco Flower sparkling wine cocktail and a sip of Kentucky Rose with whiskey, thanks. 7135 E. Camelback Rd. Suite 125, Scottsdale, 480.970.1700, www.foxrc.com.
