June 18 is International Sushi Day. In celebration, RA Sushi (pictured) is giving away free Tootsy Maki rolls to those are signed up for RA’s monthly e-blast, The Hook Up. The deadline to sign-up and still receive the complimentary Tootsy Maki is this Friday, June 14.
Now through July 7, anyone who purchases a Budweiser beer at any participating Tilted Kilt will receive a code good for one entry for the “Here’s to the Heroes” sweepstakes. Simply scan the code using a free downloadable app on any smart phone to enter. Instant Prize winners will have a $25 donation made to the Folds of Honor Foundation in the winner’s name. Grand prize winners can nominate a friend or family member who is actively serving in the military for a chance to win $3,000 towards a trip home.
El Chorro in Paradise Valley restaurant has upped the ante with its Summer Happy Hour available Tuesday through Saturday exclusively in the bar and lounge. The Summer Happy Hour will feature mouthwatering eats and drink specials including $5 house wines, $2.50 domestic beers, $3 import beers and $6 premium well cocktails from 5 p.m. to close.
On Thursday, June 20, Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale is hosting a sommelier showdown and chef challenge. Bourbon Steak chef, Chris Curtiss, will take on Ciao’s Lester Gonzalez in the kitchen while beverage manager, Chad Elsner, goes head-to-head with owner/wino Peter Kasperski in a battle of the bottles. $60 for all five courses and 10 wines. On Thursday, June 20, the public is invited to attend Kelly’s Annual Affair in Old Town, an evening celebration inspired by the Art Deco Style Roaring 20s and 30s era. The event will start at 7 p.m. with complimentary passed appetizers, a Champagne tower and a candy station. There will also be food and drinks specials, models pacing the restaurant in era-style clothing and vintage cars.
The Arizona Wine Growers Association will host the Wine in the Pines Festival this weekend, June 15-16. Located at Charlie Clark’s Orchard in Pinetop-Lakeside, this festival will showcase the best wines of Arizona. Wine in the Pines will feature 18 Arizona wineries who will offer tastings, along with sales by the glass, bottle or case. The wine festival has an admission of $30 and allows entry both days. Ticket prices will be $35 at the door.
