What inspired you to take part in the Taste of the NFL’s Party with a Purpose? I was approached by Gallo Wines to participate, and it is a huge honor. The event is like no other, and I look forward to it each year.
Any hints as to what you’ll be dishing up at the party? We will be serving our signature gnocchi Bolognese. It is definitely a crowd pleasure and represents Davio’s very well. We cook them at the event, which takes more time but it comes out perfect. It’s one of my favorite entrees on our menus.
Say you’re hosting a Super Bowl party. What dish do you serve to guests? Short rib sliders, meatballs, Davio’s spring rolls.
Have you always had a passion for the culinary arts? How did you get your start? I purchased my first restaurant at the age of 24 and transformed it into a fine dining restaurant almost 30 years ago. Since then, we opened our seventh location in Manhattan. I started with a marketing degree from Boston University and then attended the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts.
What do you love most about what you do? I never know what each day brings me. Some days I’m with our team in one of the restaurants, or meeting with potential new sites, traveling to one of the states were in, working with the chefs on new menu items or at are packing plant for our products. The list is really endless. It’s very exciting.
What are your goals for the coming year? Our goal for next year is to open a Davio’s in San Juan, Puerto Rico in a big way. We have lots of plans on keeping the food consistent with the brand and making it a very innovative and catering to the new market.
What food bank are you representing? The Greater Boston Food Bank.
And a few fun faves…
Favorite Super Bowl memory: When Adam hit that field goal and the Pats beat St. Louis. We all just went crazy! It was a great game. I will never forget it.
Favorite sports-watching snack: Doritos. There is nothing better.
Favorite cocktail to whip up for Super Bowl guests: It is very simple but Reydka vodka with a slice of orange.
